Biography
Background
I have been in Education for over 15 years and a program director for almost 10 of those years. In
those years, I have traveled cross-country to train faculty in new and improving grading system
software. Currently, I am the program chair for commerce and technology at a local college in
suburban Chicago, Illinois. I also teach communication studies at a local junior college. In addition,
I own and operate a printing and design business. I am a member of the Society of Human
Resource Management (SHRM), and I have received several community service awards for my
work in scholarship fundraising and mentoring programs for the underprivileged and young
ladies, respectively.
CSU Story
CSU gave me the opportunity to teach online. This is an institution that puts the students first.
What I really love about CSU is how they make it possible for members of the armed forces to
serve our country and still earn a degree. I feel very honored when a military member is in my
class.
Hobbies/Interests
Hobbies include 5000 piece jigsaw puzzles, (although I don’t have time to complete them) and
spending time with my two daughters.
Additional Information
Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is that once a student gets to a certain point in his academics, he/she has
already been taught what he needs. My job as an educator is to utilize what he has learned and
apply it to the next phases of the student’s academic journey. To ensure success, I make sure my
students retain as much knowledge as possible by conducting a classroom environment that is fun
and engaging by relating everything I teach to the real world and by using case study situations for
students to investigate. When they can imagine themselves in a real world scenario, that’s when
learning begins.
Advice for Current Students
Take it one step or day at a time. If you don't , you will easily become overwhelmed.
