QEP’s Oktoberfest
Critical
Thinking
Corner...
Some may equate Oktoberfest just with Samuel Adams, but not anymore. The QEP has
started its own Oktoberfest. October is the month of “QEP endorsed” workshops.
North Campus is leading the way for teaching and learning this month by hosting
multiple workshops, and two of these have received the Gold Seal of Approval as
“QEP Endorsed Events.” In addition to the workshops at North Campus, two QEP
Certified Scholars will facilitate workshops on Central Campus. QEP Scholar Kisha King,
who also serves as an Honors College Coordinator, is facilitating a workshop titled,
Honors and the QEP, and Dr. Nathalie Franco is facilitating Metacognition: A Key to
Cultivating Critical Thinking. You definitely do not want to miss these workshops.

Scholar Reflection
Critical thinking is a mode of
thinking that improves a
thinker’s ability to analyze,
reconstruct, and access any
subject or problem. Critical
thinking for students should
entail students enhancing their
intellectual skills beyond rote
memorization. Improved
critical thinking provides
students with the ability to
examine, question, and
develop multiple solutions to
one problem.

flies by when you are having fun.
Dr. Rodriguez served with colleagues
representing the states of Florida

Kentucky, North Carolina, and South
Carolina. According to Dr. Rodriguez,
the experience was professionally and
personally rewarding. She looks
forward to another opportunity.
