PURPOSE OF THE TEAM To deliver print and digital communications that enable Tearfund to achieve its vision, through acquiring new support and prompting gifts of prayer, time and money. 2. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB To create and edit inspiring and interesting film and news content for Tearfund. 3. POSITION IN ORGANISATION Reports to Copy Team Leader Works closely with colleagues in Copy and Digital teams to generate creative content Works closely with Copy Team Leader and Head of Global Brand and Communications to ensure creative projects are on brand Liaises with International Group, regional teams and others in the organisation, as well as with Tearfund partners overseas Oversees Tearfund’s pool of freelance photographers, as well as its in-house film and photography equipment. DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Sourcing and researching stories Liaise with team colleagues, International Group and others in the UK and overseas to plan, research and write stories that will inspire and interest our UK supporters Contribute to weekly/monthly creative content planning Establish good relationships in order to ensure effective flow of information and approval of content As part of a wider team, brainstorm creative concepts for creative outputs as required 2. Writing and editing copy Writing original copy for genres including news (primarily), DM, email, features, advertorial and social media Writing headlines and captions Generating your own story ideas as well as writing to fulfil a brief when required Editing own and others’ work for style, accuracy and length Proofreading own and others’ work Securing stakeholder approval for content and dealing with comments and change requests 3. Film / photography Collect film footage in the UK and overseas, acting as self-shooting director when necessary Identify and brief other suppliers to collect footage Edit own and others’ film footage, keeping to agreed brief and schedule Create response-based films that utilise stories to raise funds Work to a creative brief as well as initiate ideas and produce original creative film content Manage Tearfund’s film and photography equipment Act as contact person for external photographers Support Tearfund colleagues to find, appoint and brief freelance photographers as required 6. All staff are contractually enrolled onto the Tearfund group pension scheme NEW STAFF SERVICE: 6 months probationary period with a 3 month review Grade: 4 SALARY: £31,970 per annum
