RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE MITCHELL SHOW SOCIETY INC.
1. Please Note: The Mitchell Show Society reserves the right to Change the programme at
the Judges digression. In the event that a class has large numbers the Judge has the right
to divide the class into two groups as he or she sees fit. The Committee reserves the right
to cancel or alter the conditions of entry of any event due to insufficient nominations. No
person will be allowed in the vicinity of the Judge during Judging other than the Stewards
and attendants in charge of the stock, who shall not be allowed to communicate with the
Judges other than through the Stewards. Penalty for breach of this rule shall be forfeiture
of their claim to any prize.
2. Acceptance of Entries: The attention of intending exhibitors is drawn to the fact that
entries are accepted subject to the rules of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural
Societies and to the Constitution and Rules of the Society in addition to any special
regulations which appear within this schedule.
3. Chief Steward: The Chief Steward Shall have the final say in all decisions regarding
any event and entrance into events
4. Any Competitor or persons associated displaying disruptive or offensive behaviour at
the digression of the Chief Steward will be asked to leave the grounds immediately and
excluded from participating in any further events.
5. Ring Stewards: Have the right to reject any animal entered, which, in their opinion,
would be likely to endanger competitors or Society property. Judges may withhold prizes
and Champion honours if, in their opinion, exhibits are not worthy of a prize.
6. Horse and Rider Safety: The Committee will not be responsible for any injury to stock,
or damage to equipment or gear. Competitors ride at their own risk. Each Competitor must
acknowledge that it is a condition of acceptance of their nomination that the Mitchell Show
Society Inc. will not be responsible in any respect for injury, loss or damage, personally or
otherwise which may be suffered by them in consequence of or in any way arising out of
their attendance at or participation in the Show. He/she must agree for themselves, the
executors and administrators to the Mitchell Show Society Inc. and its members in respect
to any such claim.
7. Biosecurity: Mitchell Show Grounds are Biosecurity controlled.
8. All entries are required to conform with Biosecurity Regulations – A Horse Health
Declaration MUST forwarded to the Secretary’s Office prior to entering the Ring.
9. Nominations: Nomination will be by way of ticket system. Tickets will be available at
the marshalling yards at 7:00am on Monday. Competitor must hand the Ring Steward
Nomination Tickets before entry into the Class. Unused Nomination Tickets may be
refunded at marshalling yards before 5:00 pm Tuesday.
10. Disputes and Protests: If you have a dispute or protest, all disputes must be in
writing and submitted to the Secretary’s Office with a non refundable deposit of $100.00
within 2 hours of the completion of the event in question. If the Committee considers the
protest frivolous, the deposit may be forfeited. On hearing of all protests and disputes
arising out of the award, the committee will abide by the Judge’s book unless it to be
shown that the Judges have been wilfully of accidently misled. Disputes Committee’s
decision is final.
11. Marshalling: Competitors are responsible for being ready for each class.
12. Classifications and Definitions: Horses are either a Show Hack or a Show Hunter
for the duration of the Show they may not compete in both. Once you have competed as a
hack or hunter led or ridden you CANNOT change classes.

13. Horse Registrations and Society Memberships – proof of current membership and
horse registration papers must be presented for the request of breed or society classes. All
horses competing in registered breed society classes must be registered and proof of
registration must be presented on request.
14. Novice Class: any entry that has not won an Open class at an affiliated Show.
15. Open: Open to any Horse/Galloway/Pony.
16. Measuring: The Official Measurer will be on the grounds from 7:00 am on Monday the
15th of May. Certificates must be produced if requested. (1/2 inch will be allowed for shoes
on shod horses).
17. Height of a Pony: Up to and not exceeding 14HH.
18. Height of a Galloway: Over 14HH and not exceeding15HH.
19. Height of a Horse: Over 15HH.
20. District: All residents, and Horses of the Maranoa Regional Council. Competitors and
horses must reside in the Shire for three months prior to the Mitchell Show.
21. Stallions: All Stallions must be handled by competitors over the age of 18 years old.
Stallions must have two forms of restraint if left unattended.
22. Showjumping: To be run under EA Rules.
23. Any horse/rider combination may only compete in a maximum of three classes for the
DAY of competition.
24. EA Approved Helmets must be worn at all times of competition.
25. A competitor is eligible for Junior Jumping up to the year of their 18th Birthday as per
Calender Year (up to 31st of December).
26. Helmet Rules: All Competitors Must wear EA Approved Helmet at all times whilst on
the Mitchell Show Grounds for the duration of the Show – including warm up, marshalling,
and during all classes. With EXCEPTION of SENIOR competitors in the ridden ASHS
classes of 16 to 19 and Working Station Horse Classes 80 to 81.
27. Current EA Helmet Standards as at 1st January 2017.
28. AS/NZS 3838: Australian Standards current (2006 onwards) provided they are SAI
Global Marked.
29. ARB HS 2012: Australian Standard new provided they are Global Marked.
30. ASTM F1163: American Standard current (2004a or 04a onwards) provided they
are SEI marked or SNELL E2001.
31. PAS 015: British Standard current (1998 or 2011) provided they are BSI marked
Kitemarked.
32. VG1: European Standard Interim(01.040:2014-12) with or without Kitemark.
33. Stabling: Please contact Secretary: Lanie Morris : 46232787 Cost - $10.00 per
stable for the duration of the Show.
34. It is advised that all competitors become members of The Mitchell Show Society
Inc. – to be covered by Public Liability Insurance . ( Personal of Professional Liability
Insurance). Notice from the National Insurance Program: All persons competing in any
event at the Mitchell Show including Showjumping, Hacks, Ponies, Led ect. Must be a
member of the EFA, Mitchell Show Society Inc, or Pony Club Association - and be able to
show proof of membership to be covered by Public Liability Insurance, (Personal or
Professional Liability Insurance) or pay a levy of $4.50 per day per competitor to ensure
cover before they can compete.
35. Pony Club Classes: Pony Club ruling of one horse/one rider applies in all Pony
Club Classes. Open to all Pony Club Members Poof of age and Financial Membership
may be requested.

It’s back! We are excited to announce that Dressage is back at the Mitchell Show. Come along, try
dressage and have fun while supporting your local Mitchell show. For all ages, test from walk trot
to novice. Two arenas and district level judges who will be sportive and educational. The
competition will kick off at 12.30pm on Sunday 14th. May. Nominations must be in by 30th. April.

accordance with the QMSSA shearing regulations.
All sheep to be penned by 9.00 am and ready for judging on the second day of
the show.
All sheep must be bona-fide property of the exhibitor whether individuals or
firms, for 12 months prior to the show.
The judge may transfer wrongly classed sheep to their correct class.
No cross entries permitted unless otherwise specified.
No exhibitor shall combine his/her sheep to compete in any class.

recorded on NLIS database using a sighted cattle report, within 48
hours of leaving the (show). PLEASE CONFIRM WITH STEWARDS.

❖ All entries must be free of disease, Lice, Fleas ect. Birds that are unhealthy or have
parasites will not be entered.

possible it is preferred that birds be brought in at this time

PAVILION. EXHIBITS (OTHER THAN PERISHABLES) ARE TO BE IN THE HANDS OF
THE STEWARDS AT THE SHOW GROUND BY 4 PM THE DAY PRIOR TO THE SHOW,
UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED. PERISHABLES (COOKING AND FLOWERS) ARE TO
BE IN THE HANDS OF THE STEWARDS BY 9 AM ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE SHOW.

Entry fees as stated in this schedule
Entries are to be made on the nomination form provided by the Show Committee.
All entries are to be the bona-fide property of the exhibitor and all produce is to be
grown in the Maranoa district.
All entries in the Art and Industrial Sections to be the work of the exhibitor and
entries must not specify the name of the exhibitor unless non-competitive.
On receipt of any entry, the steward will give the class ticket for same, which must
be the only sign of ownership attached to the exhibit.
Exhibitors must arrange their own exhibits in the place allotted by the stewards.
Judges and stewards may transfer any exhibit from one class to another. The
stewards reserve the right to reject any exhibit or exhibits which may not be
considered to be of sufficient merit to be displayed.
Prize tickets and ribbons shall be affixed as soon as Judges have made their
awards.
The decision of the Judges will be final as to the merits of the competition. The
Society reserves the right to adjudicate on any point or points, which may be under
dispute, and the committee's decision will be final.
All protests must be lodged with the secretary, addressed to her and accompanied
by a deposit of $10 within two (2) hours of the notification of the Judge’s award. If
the committee considered the protest frivolous, the deposit may be forfeited. On
hearing of all protests and disputes arising out of the award, the Committee shall
abide by the Judge’s book unless it be shown that the Judges have been wilfully or
accidentally mislead.

the Show Society

Exhibitors shall render themselves liable to a penalty of $10.00 by removing any
official placard, ticket, or ribbon in lie of thereof, or by refusing in any way to carry
out their instructions and the secretary will incur no responsibility by enforcing the
regulations.
Every care will be taken of exhibits but the Society will not be responsible for any
loss or damage. Any exhibits must be brought to and removed from the ground by
the Exhibitor.
A first prize winning exhibit is not eligible for any competition in any succeeding
Mitchell Shows. Previous winning entries can be exhibited in a non-competitive
way.
Pavilion Exhibits cannot be removed from the Pavilion prior to 4.00 pm on the
second day of the Show.
No second prize money will be awarded if less than three entries in any one class.
Items for sale; Exhibitors may nominate sale price and will be responsible for
attaching price tickets. The Show Society will deduct 10% from the sale price.

SCHOOLWORK DISPLAY
A display for the Mitchell and districts schools will be held in the main pavilion as a
show case of the school work completed by students from these schools
DRESSAGE
It’s back! We are excited to announce that Dressage is back at the Mitchell Show.
Come along, try dressage and have fun while supporting your local Mitchell show.
For all ages, test from walk trot to novice. Two arenas and district level judges who
will be sportive and educational. The competition will kick off at 12.30pm on
Sunday 14th. May. Nominations must be in by 30th. April. Call Judith on
