ABOUT the
WELCOME TO THE
LEXARTS HOP
Dear Art Lover,
Welcome to the LexArts Hop!
After over 25 years, Gallery Hop is a signature
Lexington event. It’s the best evidence of the
depth and breadth of our visual arts culture. Our
thriving downtown is especially lively on the third
Friday of every month, thanks to the almost 50
venues that have something new to offer for every
Hop.
We hope you’ll look, enjoy, learn—and buy.
Original works of art are truly gifts that keep on
giving, whether you purchase them for yourself
or for others. A piece that speaks to you will have
different things to say over time. This is true if it’s
your first purchase or your 200th.
Please “Hop” often! I’ve been in Lexington a year
now and have barely begun to visit all the galleries,
studios, and supporting venues that participate.
(And I’m trying….) And if you have to miss a third
Friday, this guide will tell you when the sites are
regularly open.
Our rich cultural life in Lexington begins with
individual artists. Please support them, and the
galleries and organizations that offer their work,
through the LexArts Hop.

HOP
The LexArts Hop is a self-guided tour of the
visual arts in downtown Lexington, KY. Patrons
begin at any location and visit as many or as few
participating venues as they would like. Each site
presents an exciting new exhibit for each Hop
and, thanks to the generosity of many, admission
is always free.
Along the Hop, patrons are also able to board
the Trolley and travel to their next stop, free of
charge, courtesy of LexTran.
While the official Hop hours are 5pm - 8pm,
closing times may vary and many of the
Supporting Art Venues, particularly the
participating restaurants and clubs, remain open
throughout the evening.
Gallery Hop is managed by LexArts as a service
to the visual arts community in Lexington.

One of the hallmarks of Guyon’s
work is that the image at once
emerges from, yet disappears into
what appears to be an ancient
surface simultaneously lighting
the path of time. It may well
be the dynamic between the
two impulses that gives her
haunting images their appeal. These layers of history
and time are a constant in her work. To build her
compositions, she applies marble dust and pigment earth from all over the world to create an archeology
of the soul.
