tance of healthy habits, particularly concerning food, per­
sonal hygiene and the hom e environm ent. D etails range
from advice on how to start a school garden or design a class
growth chart to instructions for a game of “germ warfare”
th at illustrates how pathogens invade tire hum an body.

Various chapters deal w ith the practical aspects o f storing
and handling food safely, making w ater fit to drink, dis­
posing of wastes, and m aintaining a healthy hom e environ­
m ent. Teachers are also given guidance an explaining to
