Majestic Herbaceous Borders
The Main Borders come into their own in the
late summer months with colourful ribbons of
Rudbekia, Helenium, Echinacea and Achillea,
contrasting with tall luxuriant grasses.
The Scented Garden
Small but beautifully formed the Scented
Garden is a must visit in early summer with its
roses, lilies, wisteria and jasmine.

Eating and drinking
While visiting RHS Garden Harlow Carr this summer
don’t forget that Bettys Café Tea Rooms alongside
the garden is open daily. With a wide range of teas,
coffees and other refreshments, it’s the perfect place
to enjoy lunch or an afternoon tea while taking in
the views of Harlow Carr in all its summer splendour.
Treat yourself to a seasonal treat from the Craft
Bakery to take home.
Produce in the Kitchen Garden
The Streamside
Summer brings colour to the Streamside
Walk with its brightly coloured dolly-mixture
candelabra primulas and splashes of Meconopsis
blue poppies, watch out for the streamside
sculpture trail in June.
Come and see the herb and cutting beds in the
Kitchen Garden which will be bursting with fruit,
veg and edible flowers and our family of hens.

Streamside Summer
Sculpture Trail
1 – 30 June
‘Reflections’ on the landscape month-long
exhibition of sculpture located alongside the
country’s longest Streamside garden. Includes
a Secret Sculpture Story Trail for children.
Bath House Gallery – Sculpture Showcase
1 June – 3 July
A showcase of sculptures made from ceramics,
wood and metal including chicken-wire animals
and magical metal fungi.
NEW Harlow Carr Flower Show Yorkshire Day
9 – 10 July
1 August
Top sweet pea growers take part in this prestigious
competition which promises breath-taking
displays and scents from hundreds of sweet pea
blooms. The National Sweet Pea Society will also
be on hand offering expert advice and surplus
blooms will be on sale.
Bring a picnic and take part in the ‘Intergalactic
Games’ with space hopper races, a Yorkshire tea
cup challenge, cosmic welly wanging and more.
Games start at 1pm.
Marvel at the beauty and glamour of these
magnificent plants at the Harrogate Orchid
Society Show. Find out more from the experts with
displays, talks and top tips on growing orchids.
18 – 19 June
Garden Tours
The Bonsai Group will be onsite offering first hand
advice on these intriguing trees with specialist
styling demonstrations.
Peony Show 26 June

ROCKET
SCIENCE
Come and see beautiful peonies on show from
the Peony Society. With advice on cultivation
and a specialist talk, there will be plenty for the
avid gardener.
Bring a picnic and enjoy live music in the garden.
This three day floral extravaganza takes place in
the wonderful setting of Harlow Carr with more
than 30 specialist nurseries and garden trade
stands dotted throughout the 58-acre garden.
Take in a variety of talks and demonstrations,
browse, buy, and pick up advice from the very

Join a tour and find out how Harlow Carr evolved
from a Victorian Spa to a RHS Garden.

Bring a picnic, enjoy live music and experience
the garden on a summer’s evening. Last entry
7.30pm. Garden closes at 9pm. Entry £5 after
5pm. Free to RHS members.
Autumn Plant Festival featuring the Tender Plant Fair
Celebrate the best of autumn gardening at
the Autumn Plant Festival. The weekend will see
the return of Plant Heritage’s popular Plant Fair
and also the addition of a Tender Plant Show
with information and advice for autumn and
winter gardening.

Summer Sundays Summer Holiday Family Fun – Rocket Science

Rocket Science themed activities including
performers, outdoor workshops, crafts and
even birds of prey. The theme will change each
week so make sure to visit more than once
throughout the holidays! ‘Rocket Science’
is an RHS Campaign for School Gardening
partnership with the UK Space Agency.
