famed establishment have provided solace and
sustenance to Melbournians and visitors alike.
Now housing Captain Melville, it has become the
destination for accessible dining, imbibing and
revelry – all within Melbourne’s oldest public
house.

Victorian wines and beers are showcased
alongside iconic Australian and international
varieties. Our cocktails are old-fashioned with
names paying playful reference to captain
Melville’s era.
FOOD
DINING & BAR
Think pub food, done well. All food is sourced
from ethical and sustainable Victorian Farms
and producers of the region traversed by the
rebel bushranger himself. The Menu focuses
on communal, casual eating, with shared
dishes, steaks, snacks, and of course, the pub
classics – all using house-made ingredients
where possible. Head chef, Mark Santos, who
has earned his stripes at many iconic
Melbourne establishments clearly presents
his mission to create high quality food for all.
Leave the residue of your day in obscurity and
escape the vices and follies of this transitory
world we inhabit and receive the hospitalities
of the fine folk of Captain Melville’s. Breathe
Architects has collaborated with the National
Trust to conduct the refit of the venue. The
large communal dining hall offers seating for
parties of many different sizes. At Captain
Melville you will experience a pleasantly vivid
recollection of dining and drinking as only the
versatile and resourceful minds of Melbourne
folk can provide.
