Proverbs 10:17 AMP He who learns from instruction and correction is on the [right] path of life [and for others his example is a path toward wisdom and blessing], But he who ignores and refuses correction goes off course [and for others his example is a path toward sin and ruin]. The QUESTION I have for you concerning this message is: “Are you teachable?” 6 Aspects of T-H-R-I-V-E: “T” stands for Teachable KEY PHRASE: You can’t be connected if you can’t be corrected. CORRECTION (dictionary) – an adjustment that is made to compensate for an observed deviation from ideal conditions DISCIPLINE (dictionary) – the ability to behave in a controlled and calm way even in a difficult and stressful situation The Promise of Correction: Proverbs 4:13 NIV Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life. Luke 11:28 NIV He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” Are you Teachable (correctable)? Hebrews 12:5-11 NLT And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as His children? He said, “My child, don’t make light of the LORD’s discipline, and don’t give up when He corrects you. For the LORD disciplines those He loves, and He punishes each one He accepts as His child.” As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as His own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father? If God doesn’t discipline you as He does all of His children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really His children at all. Since we respected our earthly fathers who disciplined us, shouldn’t we submit even more to the discipline of the Father of our spirits, and live forever? For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in His holiness. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way. Proverbs 10:17 – “He who heeds discipline (is TEACHABLE) shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction (IS NOT Teachable) leads others astray (shows them the way to death and destruction). In 2017…are you committed to Growth and Development? It is imperative that you and I “THRIVE!”
