VWR® Disposable Polypropylene Spatulas - Multi-Tools for the Lab
VWR® Disposable Polypropylene Spatulas are versatile tools that can be used throughout the lab.
They are great for scooping, scraping and stirring. The Standard size features a double-ended design with a combo
Spoon/Spatula at one end and a narrow Scoop at the other. The Macro features a pick end to facilitate breaking up
clumps; and the Micro is anti-static. All are resistant to dilute acids and bases and autoclavable (121°C, 15 psig, 15
min) for sterile applications. These spatulas won’t shatter in liquid nitrogen frozen samples. In fact, the unique hollow
core minimizes heat or cold transfer so working with frozen or heated samples is a breeze.
Most importantly, VWR® Disposable Spatulas reduce the risk of cross contamination in the lab.

VWR’s unique ECO Biodegradable Polypropylene Disposable Spatulas are manufactured out of 99% virgin polypropylene and 1%
organic additive that causes the polypropylene resin to biodegrade only after prolonged exposure to the microbes, naturally
present in a biologically-active landfill.
The the additive does NOT change any of the beneficial characteristics of the polypropylene that make it the resin of choice for lab
consumables.
In independent third party laboratory testing, Biodegradation rates of VWR ECO spatulas were measured according to the ASTM
D5511 test method. Tests were conducted using 48% solids content; solids content in naturally wetter landfills range from 55% to
65%, while the driest landfills may reach 93%. Actual biodegradation rates will vary in biologically-active landfills according the
solids content, temperature, and moisture levels of the landfill. Our ECO Spatulas produced using this additive were found to
biodegrade an average of 29% in the first 586 days of testing.

Macro 310mm - Double ended with Spoon/Spatula and clump busting Pick, available in green
At 12 1/4 inches, the Macro Spatula is designed to ease the retrieval of materials from
large containers.
• Use the sharp pick end to break up clumps.
• The spoon/spatula fits into a 50 ml tube.
Micro Anti-Static 140mm - Double ended with two V-shaped scoops, available in Opaque
VWR Disposable Anti-Static Micro Spatulas are ideal for manipulating small amounts of
static-affected samples or chemicals.
• The antistatic micro spatula is 3.5 mm in diameter
• Fits into a 0.2 ml micro tube.
• Cut at a 15º angle, the tapered V-Tip terminates in a “needle point” and facilitates
manipulating extraordinarily small amounts of material.
