New Caledonia trip
Expression of Interest Letter
Dear Parent/Guardian and interested student,
Plans are underway to organise a trip for 20-30 students to Noumea, New Caledonia, combining students from
Crusoe, Eaglehawk and Weeroona Secondary Colleges.
We would be looking at a departure date of 25th November 2017 and arriving back in Melbourne on 2nd
December 2017. The study and cultural tour will be booked through G.E.T. Educational Tours as part of their
French Language Programme. This trip is being offered to all students studying French in Years 9 and 10, 2017.
There is no lower age limit. Two or three teachers will accompany the students.

This group will be under the supervision of teachers at all times.
Students will stay at the Le Pacifique Hotel, and will attend French language classes and experience cultural
activities.
At this stage the approximate cost is $2100.00, including travel insurance. Prices may vary, depending
on exchange rate fluctuations, airline fare increases and seasonality changes, and numbers of
participants.
We will hold an information evening as soon as the expression of interest letters are back to us.
Emily from GET Tours will be available on that evening to answer questions from students and parents, and
she will be presenting a video of what the tour involves.
Here are the aims of the programme and an overview of the itinerary:
To provide students with an extended cultural and linguistic immersion experience in the French language, including a school visit,
discovery walks, creation of a digital journal in French, Youth Theatre workshop, organising their own cinema tickets and shopping
experience at the supermarket and the local Noumean markets, a visit to the Tjibaou Cultural Centre and a possible visit to the
Aquarium.
If you think that your student would be interested in this exciting cultural opportunity, and you would like to
attend an Information evening in early October 2016, please complete the Expression of Interest form attached,
and return it to the General Office by Thursday 18th August. If you would like any further information, please
