Parent/Child (Ages 6 months-2 yrs) Max per class-10 children & parents 30 Minute Classes Parent/Child I: Prerequisite: Child must be 6 months and have head control. Adult (at least 18 years old) must be in the water with the child. Child will learn basic skills such as blowing bubbles, arm movement and kicking. The primary objective is to get the child comfortable in the water, teach the parent techniques for continued water development and general pool safety. Parent/Child II: Prerequisite: Child must have taken Parent/Child I and/or be at least 1.5 year of age. Adult (at least 18 years old) must be in the water with the child. This class is designed for children who have already taken Parent/Child I, are at least 1.5 year of age, and children who are more advanced and comfortable in the water. Building on the skills from the previous class, parents and children will begin to develop ways to create a more independent experience in the water based on the child’s current development stage. Parents and children will be introduced to more purposeful movements to help with the transition to the aquatics preschool level. Preschool Classes (Ages 3-5 yrs) Max per class-5 children 40 Minute Classes Pike: Prerequisite: Child must be 3 years old by the first day of class, and leave parent willingly. Beginning swim class. Children learn to be comfortable in the water. Children will learn kicking, floating, arm movement & pool safety. Eel: Prerequisite: Child must be able to swim 5 feet unassisted on their front and back. Intermediate swim class. Children will learn to swim 25 yards with a float belt and swim 15 feet unassisted. Ray: Prerequisite: Child must be able to swim 15 feet unassisted on their front and back. Advanced swim class. Children will learn to swim 20 feet unassisted. Youth/Grade School Classes (6-12 years) Max per class-5 children Polliwog: Prerequisite: Child must be 6 years old. Beginning swim class. Teaches beginning swimming on front, back and side. 40 Minute Classes Guppy: Prerequisite: Child must be able to swim 15 feet unassisted on their front, back and side. Teaches rudimentary rhythmic breathing for the front crawl. Children will learn to swim 25 yards unassisted of the front crawl and backstroke. Children will learn the sidestroke and elementary backstroke and be able to swim 5 ft. unassisted. Minnow: Prerequisite: Child must be able to swim unassisted for 25 yards (1 length), front crawl with rudimentary rhythmic breathing, and backstroke with arms out of water. They also must be able to swim sidestroke unassisted for 5 ft. Teaches a child to swim 50 yards (2 lengths) front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke and 25 yards sidestroke and elementary backstroke. Fish: Prerequisite: Child must be able to swim 50 yards (2 lengths) of the following strokes; Front crawl (with rotary breathing), backstroke, breaststroke and 25 yards sidestroke and elementary backstroke. Teaches a child to swim 75 yards (3 lengths) front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke and 50 yards sidestroke, elementary backstroke and 25 yards butterfly. Flying Fish: Prerequisite: Child must be able to swim 75 yards (3 lengths) of the following strokes; front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, and 50 yards sidestroke and elementary backstroke and 25 yards butterfly. Teaches children the fundamentals of being on a swim team and builds endurance to swim 100 yards (4 lengths) of the following strokes; front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke and 25 yards butterfly. Adult Class (13+ years) Max per class-4 adults 40 Minute Classes Adult: The Adult Class is for beginner and intermediate students who want to learn how to swim or want to work on the fundamentals of the crawl and back stroke.
