ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS
Dear Parents and Students:
It is the time of year when we begin to prepare for our annual dance recital. This packet contains all of the
information that you will need for this year’s recital. Please be sure to keep all of this information until the
recital.
The recital is Saturday, May 6th at the Lake Zurich Performing Arts Centre (The PAC), 300 Church Street, Lake
Zurich, IL 60047.
There are two shows:
- 9:00am & 11:00am
They will last approximately one hour. Your child will participate in one of these recitals. Please see the top of
the packet for your child’s show time.
Dress Rehearsal
Will be held on Friday, May 5th at The PAC at 4:15pm and 5:30pm. Please see the top of this packet for which
rehearsal time your child is scheduled to attend. Students are expected to be on time, dressed in full
costume and make-up (if necessary) and ready to dance. Please make sure your child’s name is on all items
including shoes. Classes will sit together in the auditorium and be called onto stage in show order. The
finale will be run first and students may leave once their dance run through is complete. Photography and
video is allowed at dress rehearsal only.
Photographs
Picture day is Saturday, April 29th at The Barn 200 S. Rand Road, Lake Zurich, IL. Regular Saturday classes will
be held at Buffalo Creek at the normal time that day. Please come in full costume and make-up. Please bring
photo envelopes with you to picture day (unless you have placed an online order, in which case, please bring
print out with you that day). Even if you do not plan to purchase a photo, we ask that you attend the photo
day. Not only do others purchase class pictures, we get a studio poster of all the class photos that we would
like all of our students pictured in.
Day of Recital
Please drop your child off 30 minutes prior to show time. They should be in full costume and make-up when
they arrive. You will check your child in with the parent volunteer for your class. Please take any extra shoes,
clothes, or dance bags with you so they are not misplaced or forgotten.
Pick up will begin immediately following the finale. One female is asked to pick up their child in the dressing
room. Please notify the parent volunteer that is with your child that you are picking them up.
Tickets and Seating TICKETS GO ON SALE SATURDAY, APRIL 15TH!
Ticket sales will be online April 15, 2017 at www.tututix.com/lakezurich. You will be able to choose your seats
and print your own tickets. Additional information will be provided as needed.
The doors will open 30 minutes prior to show time. There will be no recording allowed during the recital.
Professional videos will be taken. If you are interested in ordering a DVD of the recital, please turn in the
completed order form with payment.
Costumes
Costumes were ordered in January and will be received in March or April. The costume companies have
numerous orders that they are working on this time of year. Do not worry if your child’s costume is late
coming in. All classes will have their costumes in time for the recital. Please do not have your child wear
their costume until the dress rehearsal.
Recital Volunteers
Parents who are chosen as the class volunteer, will be with their child’s class for the entire dance recital and
will not need a ticket for a seat. Each parent volunteer will receive one complimentary ticket to the recital.
Classes older than 8 years of age do not need a parent volunteer. You can fill out a volunteer form available
at the Buffalo Creek studio. You will be notified if you are selected as a class volunteer. You will be able to
watch your child dance from the front row of the auditorium.
Recital Apparel
We will be selling apparel with the recital logo on it. The order form is included in this packet. Please
complete the included order form and submit to your child’s instructor with payment. These are great
for wearing to dance class and a memory of their recital!
Flowers
Flower bouquets can be pre-ordered with the attached form. You will be able to pick them up at The PAC
the day of recital.
Custom Cookies
Personalized cookies with your dancer’s name can be pre- ordered with the attached form. Please make sure
you select which cookie design and list the correct spelling of your dancer’s name. You will be able to pick
them up at the PAC the day of recital.
Parking
There should be ample parking on the day of the recital. If you are in the second show, please remember
that a previous show may be letting out as you are arriving. Once they empty out, there will be enough
space to accommodate everyone.

About Artistic Video Recitals DVDs:
With the littlest dancers, we use a split screen to get close ups. On the bottom is the wide shot so parents are
able to see their child for the entire song.
With the older dancers, we understand that it is all about the choreography.
The DVD has a menu so parents can locate their child’s dance quickly.
All recitals are videotaped with three HD Cameras.
The third camera gets great low angle shots from the corner of the stage and provides audio.
We use Dual Layer DVDs (Twice the data of standard DVDs)

Orchestra $12
Note that you will need a credit or debit card to buy tickets, and that tickets
will be sold on a first come, first served basis. So, buy early to get better seats!
You’ll have several options for how you want your ticket delivered. You can have it
emailed to you, sent to your mobile phone internet browser, and even add it to your
Apple Passbook (if you have the latest iPhone software) at no charge!
Or, you can choose to have TutuTix mail you foil-embossed keepsake tickets for an
additional fee– with your dancer’s name printed directly on the ticket!
