Archbishop Elias Chacour, Archbishop Emeritus of the Melkite Catholic Church of the Galilee, has spent his life contemplating the d eep mysteries of Jesus’ teaching in the Beatitudes and Sermon on the Mount. •
Rev. Dr. Duncan Ferguson, New Testament professor and higher education executive, Presbyterian pastor, author, and president of the Pilgrims of Ibillin Board. In his latest book, Dr. Ferguson critically examines Jesus’ role as charismatic teacher, compassionate healer, and radical prophet. •
Dr. Michael Spath, UCC pastor and Director of the Indiana Center for Middle East Peace, has spent his life working with the “Living Stones,” Palestinian Christians working for a just peace and n on-­‐violent social transformation. Week 1 in Ibillin, staying in the Guesthouse at the M ar Elias Educational Institutions The first week of the Study Seminar will be spent with Archbishop Chacour as he unlocks the mysteries of the Beatitudes and Sermon on the Mount in a small group, private setting on-­‐site at Biram, h is now-­‐
destroyed village, Mount Tabor, Sepphoris, Capernaum, Caesarea Philippi, the Mount of the Beatitudes, and of course, in the beautiful Chapel of the Sermon on the Mount on the campus of M ar Elias Educational Institutions. Drs. Duncan Ferguson and Michael S path will also be resources in the conversations with the Archbishop. Week 2, the group will travel south to Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Ramallah, to experience Jesus’ lived presence in the lived reality of the “Living Stones,” in teaching, h ealing, and prophetic ministries. Among those tentatively scheduled are: Ambassador Hind Khoury (Kairos USA), Rev. Mark Brown (Lutheran World Federation), Omar Barghouti (BDS Movement), Sam Bahour (entrepreneur), Jean Zaru (Friends), Daoud Nassar (Tent of Nations farm), Rami Elhanan and George Sa’adeh (Bereaved Parents), Abdelfattah Abusrour (Arrowwad Cultural Center) and Zoughbi Zoughbi (Wi’am Conflict Resolution Center). The tour will include opportunity for visits to the holy sites in Jerusalem and Bethlehem, as well as scheduled free time for the participants.
