pecial Education Program Options
Special education program support options
are offered to students based on assessment
results identifying a need for specific service.
There are specialized services available for
infants with disabilities via Part C Early Start
programs. Part B special education services
are for individuals with disabilities from age
3 to 22.
Services may include specialized academic
instruction within a general education classroom and/or a separate setting, provided individually and/or in small group. Related
services are provided when required for a
student to benefit from his/her special education instruction. Such services may include
speech/language, motor skills, behavior supports, mental health services, low incidence
services, and/or transition services.
Babies born with a low incidence disability
(blind, deaf, deaf-blind, orthopedic impairment) are often identified quickly by the
medical professionals. The Riverside County Office of Education Infant Circle Program
personnel receive such referrals, conduct
evaluations, and provide services. For more
information, call (951) 683-0112.
For other children, a parent/guardian may
begin to suspect that their infant or toddler
has a disability. The parent may contact the
Inland Regional Center Early Start
Program at (909) 890-4768.
