Closure of Elevator Road
UPDATE
January 6, 2016
To all our valued stakeholders,
As part of the Robson-Timberland Road Connector Project, access to Fraser
Surrey Docks, Gunderson Road, Alaska Way and Robson Road via Elevator Road
from Hwy 16 (South Fraser Perimeter Road) will be closed effective January
31st, 2016.
As of this date, the primary route re-aligns traffic into Fraser Surrey Docks and
surrounding roadways via the Tannery Road Interchange.
Emergency services and related organizations (ie. 9-1-1, police, fire,
ambulance, E-Comm) have been also advised of the upcoming changes.
NOTE: THE PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED JANUARY 11, 2016 OPENING
DATE HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO JANUARY 31, 2016.
January 31, 2016:
 Primary Access to and from Fraser Surrey Docks, Robson Road,
Gunderson Road and Alaska Way will be via the “Tannery Interchange”;
 “NEW” Fraser Surrey Docks container truck queue lane will be established
on the south side of Robson Road;
 All container drayage truck drivers destined for Fraser Surrey Docks will
be required to pull into the new Fraser Surrey Docks Vehicle Access
Control System (VACS) lane for reservation and TLS validation; and
 Access to and from Elevator Road to Highway 17 (SFPR) will be
closed by the BC Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure.

INBOUND:
East and West (from Highway 17) – take Tannery Road off-ramp from Hwy 17. Travel North
along Tannery Road then West onto Timberland and Robson Roads. Container trucks bound
for Fraser Surrey Docks, are required to check-in at new VACS Kiosk.
All other travel can by-pass the VACS Kiosk and proceed into the area.
Steel traffic to FSD will proceed to existing check-in off Elevator Road.
OUTBOUND:
East and West (to Highway 17) – travel along Robson and Timberland Road (East) to exit at
Tannery Interchange.
EMERGENCY ACCESS:
Primary route for first responders will be via Tannery Interchange. In the event that the road
is not open due to incident, emergency response will be via Elevator Road where break train
protocols are in place for emergency access.
