Alabama Baptist Children’s Home Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries aims to protect, nurture, and restore children and families through Christ-­‐centered services such as foster care training, Family Care Homes for homeless mothers and their children, counseling, and seminars on child and family issues. CARES teams are there to welcome new neighbors, connect residents, host events, and show support during hard times. Because most marriages begin in the church, BMI works closely with local churches, Christian schools, and like-­‐minded individuals. Breakfast Club Mentoring -­‐ Oliver Elementary Breakfast Club volunteers are assigned 2-­‐3 Oliver Elementary students to mentor from 7-­‐7:45 AM in the Oliver Elementary School cafeteria once a week. During these 45-­‐minute sessions, mentors utilize a character-­‐building curriculum, which facilitates cross-­‐generational sharing around critical issues. CLCC aims to do more than manage the homeless by feeding and sheltering them overnight or for a short time. The mission of Changed Lives is to take individuals who are presently homeless and weave them back into the fabric of productive society. The WellHouse The WellHouse is a Christ-­‐centered nonprofit organization offering immediate shelter and transitional housing to women who have been trafficked, are prostituting, or have been otherwise sexually exploited. Food, clothing, spiritual guidance, Christian counseling, and other necessities are provided, as well as life skills classes, GED preparation, and other enrichment services in order to help these women become self-­‐sufficient and give them a sense of self-­‐worth.
