Corona del Sol Aztec Marching Band UPCOMING EVENTS for October The Competition Season starts! Tuesday, October 1 CORONA DEL SOL MARCHING INVITATIONAL 5 pm – Call Time in uniform, warm-up, rehearse 5:45 pm – Trumpet soloists from all schools meet at flagpole 6 pm – National Anthem, event starts, Corona Band in the stands to watch all performances BANDS PERFORMING (in order): McClintock, Santa Rita, Marcos de Niza, Buckeye, Tempe, Maricopa, Mesquite, Desert Vista, Corona Approx. 8:20 pm: Corona del Sol performs Approx. 8:40 pm – clean up, bring instruments back, check in uniforms, dismissed by 9 pm Friday, October 4 Away Game vs. Brophy Call Time: 4:30 pm at Corona NOTE: This game is NOT required if you are out of town on vacation. Just make sure to fill out the online excusal form ahead of time if you will not be at the game. We will be doing stand tunes only and NOT performing the show. Thus, pit and color guard members are NOT required to attend this performance (they can still go to have fun in the stands though!) UNIFORM FOR THIS GAME ONLY: Band t-shirts, blue jeans, any shoes, coat or hoodie if it is cold out (NO marching uniforms for this game). October 5-October 10: October Break Week (NO REHEARSALS) Friday, October 11 March-a-thon and Home Football Game 8 am: Rehearsal starts in stadium (band room will be open at 7:30 am to get instruments or equipment). Wear sunscreen, appropriate rehearsal attire, and hats (required). 11 am – 12:30 pm: LUNCH BREAK (you can bring a lunch, go out to lunch with your friends or family, or go home for lunch) 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm: Rehearsal outside in the stadium. Wear sunscreen, appropriate rehearsal attire, and hats (required). 3:30 pm: DINNER BREAK (you can bring dinner, go out to dinner with your friends or family, or go home for dinner) 5:30 pm – CALL TIME IN UNIFORMS for Home Football Game vs. Dobson (our band will perform halftime) Approx. 9:30 (after game): Dismiss Saturday, October 12 BARRY GOLDWATER INVITATIONAL We don’t have info about spectator tickets – but they are probably between $5 - $8. 4:45 pm: Goldwater Invitational afternoon session starts (order of performing bands: Paradise Valley, Horizon, Payson, Willow Canyon, Westview, Agua Fria, Apache Junction, Desert Edge, Fountain Hills, Desert Mountain, Deer Valley, Boulder Creek, Perry, Mountain Ridge, Corona del Sol, Barry Goldwater) 5:45 pm: CALL TIME in uniform at Corona, depart for Goldwater in busses 6:45 pm: Arrive at Goldwater, unload trucks 7:15 pm: Stretching, visual warm-up, pit sets up 8 pm: Official Warm-up time 8:40 pm: Gate Time Approx. 9 pm: Corona del Sol performs 9:45 pm: Awards Ceremony 10:15 pm: Awards end, load busses and depart approx. 11:30 pm: arrive at Corona and unload Friday, October 18: Away Game vs. Mountain Pointe (Call time 4:30 pm) Wednesday, October 23: Marching Band Group Photo (2:30 pm – 5 pm) Thursday, October 24: Home Game vs. Desert Vista (Call Time 5 pm) Saturday, October 26 UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA BAND DAY BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES (including shoes/sandals) Times are tentative and may change slightly for performance and after… we will let you know if there are changes well in advance! For spectators – tickets are $8 ($5 for seniors, $3 for kids K-12, children under 5 are free) 11 am: Load trucks 1 pm: CALL TIME in uniform at Corona, depart for Tucson in busses 3:30 pm: Arrive at U of A, unload trucks 4 pm: Dinner (provided by Band Boosters) 5 pm: Stretch 5:15 pm: Visual/marching warm-up 5:50 pm: Music warm-ups (Brass, Woodwinds, Drums, etc.) 6:30 pm: Ensemble music rehearsal on UA Mall lawn spot 7:10 pm: Pit moves to gate 7:20 pm: Everyone else moves to gate 7:30 pm: Gate time Approx. 7:45 pm: Corona del Sol performs (tentative time – we will let you know if it changes) Approx. 9 pm: Awards Ceremony Approx. 9:30 pm: Awards end, load busses and depart Approx. 9:50 pm: Late night dinner/snack stop on Cortaro Rd exit (students bring money for food) Approx. 10:35 pm: Depart for Tempe Approx. midnight: arrive at Corona and unload
