Installation Composite Decking VERSION 1.161018 woodandbeyond.com Prior to Installation Ensure that the ground is levelled, clean and solid. For muck foundation, it is necessary to lay a solid substrate to fix the joist. In case your base is made out of concrete, ensure that it’s at least 6cm thick, in order to avoid any sinking or expansion. Make sure to drill two drainage holes with a diameter of at least 8cm in every 4 m2. That’s to ensure the infiltration of water well into the ground, so as not to cause water accumulation. PAGE 1 OF 7 PRIOR TO INSTALLATION woodandbeyond.com Installation Composite Decking VERSION 1.161018 Prior to Installation Due to the crispness of WPC, all holes must be pre-drilled prior to fastening of the boards onto the joists, otherwise board will break if screwed directly. An expansion gap of 1.5mm/metre (of the board length) must be left in between boards. 8cm drainage hole per 4 square meter in low lying place Tickness of the concrete > 6cm Please note Decking planks shall not be used as structural material such as columns, beams, joists, support posts or other load bearing segments. PAGE 2 OF 7 STEP 1 woodandbeyond.com Installation Composite Decking VERSION 1.161018 Step One Keep a distance of 20-50cm between any two joists. If boards are not installed not vertically to the joists, a shorter distance must be kept between the joists. Long joist distance will make the boards warp downwards. PAGE 4 OF 7 STEP 3 woodandbeyond.com Installation Composite Decking VERSION 1.161018 Step Three Due to the expansion ration, we recommend using boards of up to 3 metre lengths. The gap between them should be 6mm and will be controlled by the fixing clips. The clips must be fastened at a 45 degree angle, in the middle of the decking boards, so as to ensure that the expansion will be sideways and outwards. PAGE 5 OF 7 STEP 4 woodandbeyond.com Installation Composite Decking VERSION 1.161018 Step Four Two joists must be used at any end-to-end join of two decking boards. A gap of 3-8mm should be left between the two ends. The distance between two decking planks should be 6mm, and can be controlled by the fixing clips. The protruding length of the decking should not be more than 1cm.
