Week #22
May 25, 2014
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will
guide you on the right paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
If God can guide the birds in their migrations and the
planets in their orbits, He has an appointed way for our
lives and can lead us accordingly. Many biblical texts
reassure us of divine guidance, among the best is Proverbs
3:5-6. Taken together, we have three commands and one
all embracing promise.
THREE COMMANDS
1. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. We can lean on
the Lord's promise because we can lean on the Lord
Himself who is unchanging, unfailing, unerring, and
illimitable.
2. Do not lean (rely) on your own understanding. This
doesn't mean we shouldn't think through decisions or
use our God-given minds. It means we think through
things in total submission with God's will and in
complete awareness of His superior knowledge about
the things that concern us.
3. Think about Him in all your ways. Acknowledge Him
by saying, “Lord, I want to turn this dilemma or decision
over to You. I desire Your perfect will.”
ONE PROMISE
Sermon Notes:
He will guide you in the right paths. He will direct you
in all your ways, giving you the wisdom to do what's best
and providentially arranging the circumstances of life
according to His will. He'll lead you in the right path.
* * * * * * *
When memorizing Proverbs 3:6, we must prayerfully
keep to the right path at every point. Look over these other
verses that contain the same three words we see at the
ending of Proverbs 3:6.
 Those who follow the right path fear the Lord. (Prov.
14:2 NLT)
 I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in
the right paths. (Prov. 4:11 NJKV)

If another believer is overcome by some sin, you who
are godly should gently and humble help that person
back onto the right path. (Gal. 6:1 NLT)

Direct your children onto the right path, and when they
are older, they will not leave it. (Prov. 22:6 NLT)

Lead me in the right path, O Lord. . . . Make your way
plain for me to follow. (Psalm 5:8 NLT)

He led them by the right path. . Let them give thanks to
the Lord for His faithful love. (Psalm 107:7-8, HCSB)

Whoever abandons the right path will be severely
disciplined; whoever hates correction will die. (Prov.
15:10 NLT)

Discretion will watch over you. . . rescuing you . . . from
those who abandon the right paths. (Prov. 2:11-13)

Keep on the right path so the weak will not stumble but
rather be strengthened. (Heb. 12:12 NCV)
“As We Remember”
(A Memorial Day Message)
I Chronicles 11 : 15 – 19
I. – An APPRECIATION For The PRESENCE &
_____________ Of Our Great Heritage
“…Our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and
dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”
II. – An ACKNOWLEDGMENT Of The PRICE
& ____________ For Our Great Heritage
“…Those who gave the last full measure of devotion …
Those who gave their lives that that nation might live…”
III. – An ACCOUNTABILITY To The ________
& PROPAGATION Of Our Great Heritage
- “It is for us, the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which
they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.
- It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that
from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they
gave the last full measure of devotion. –
- That we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain
- That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and
- That government of the people, by the people, & for the people, shall not perish
from the earth
