Campers explore the natural world and
experience activities with a small group of
similar aged peers. This intimate, hands-on
approach provides great opportunities for
kids to build relationships with new friends
and experiment in challenging activities
they have not tried before while under the
watchful supervision of trained staff.
This spring our early registrations for
summer camp doubled over last year. Over
half of our summer staff are returning to
help nurture this year’s campers. (You can
see who is coming back on page 3 inside.)
The summer the Bible study theme is
based on Ephesians 5:1-2. It has us diving
into what it means to be an imitator of God.
As Christians we are called to live in love as
Christ loved us. Come and explore God,
creation and play with us this summer! If

Spring Updates at Sequanota
We've had a busy spring at
Sequanota. Starting at the
beginning of March the pool
construction was in full swing!
A work crew has demolished
the 45+ year old filter system
and begun to bend rebar to
form the new holding tank.
Construction has been slowed
a bit, but we are working for
completion by June 5th. The
pool deck will also be
completely resurfaced by the
end of May.
The dining hall has also
received a few upgrades. A
new walk-in cooler and freezer
has been installed. We were
also able to purchase 17 new
lightweight round tables, 2
stainless steel work tables,
and 4 refrigerator & freezer
shelving units at an auction this
spring. This allowed us to
remove the old butcher block
work tables from the kitchen
and replace the remaining old,
heavy, dinged up round tables
for eating.
At the Bowersox Center, a
three phase, 125 kW generator
was donated. This gift will
enable Sequanota to keep
electricity for the refrigerators
and freezers and other life
supports systems in the event
of a power outage. Cosmetic
updates to the facility continue
as well. New floor tile has been
installed in the entryway and
public bathrooms.
Finally, the Men on a Mission
event was a very productive
weekend. There were 28 men
that donated over 250
volunteer hours in total! The
fruits of their labors included 44
trees cut down, debris burned
from 18 trees, 14 pickup truck
loads of split wood moved,
electricity reconnected to two
cabins, the wiring connected
for the cooler and freezer in the
dining hall, a new electrical box
installed at the pool, cement
steps moved into place at
cabin 5, kitchen appliances
moved, one garden plot rotatilled, and 35 post holes dug for
a fence around the new
garden.
The focus is now turning to
summer! The summer staff
has been hired and twice as
many
campers
were
registered by the early bird
deadline as there were last
year! There is still space
available but some weeks are
close to filling up, so have your
camper sign up today!
Leave a Legacy Gift to Sequanota
Are you considering making
a legacy gift to Sequanota?
One way we have received
legacy gifts for ministry is
through generous inclusion in
a will.
This can be accomplished
by adopting Sequanota as a
“child”, and including it in your
plans as you would your other
children or family.
For
example, let’s say a person
has two children, and plans to
divide their assets equally
between them. By “adopting”
Sequanota, you may include it
as the third child, and divide
accordingly.
As you consider this gift,
remember that many of your
assets never go through the
probate process and pass
through the terms of your will.
IRA’s, life insurance, annuities,
and other investments typically
are passed along according to
the beneficiaries named on the
policy. Since you want to
include Sequanota as a
beneficiary of your estate, the
best way to solidify your
intentions is to meet with a gift
planner who can look at all your
plans, and help all your assets
pass along to family and
charity
as
you
intend.
Sequanota offers the free
services of a gift planner
through its partnership with the
ELCA Foundation.
Pastor Liz Polanzke is
available to help complete your
plans for family and ministry.

Fall Benefit Auction
~ Donation of items request ~
Recently, we have made a push to auction a variety of
items in addition to the wonderful quilts and blankets
we receive. Because of many generous donations,
the fall auction again raised over $8,500 to help offset
the cost of summer camp for children and families.
This year our goal is $10,000! We are again looking
for unique and creative items to auction. The success
of the benefit auction is dependent upon many
generous donations. Be creative and donate an
auction item to the 2016 benefit auction! To help get
your creative juices flowing here are a few ideas ...

15th Annual Golf Benefit at Summit Country Club
in Memory of James F. Beener
Jim Beener was part of the Sequanota Golf Benefit committee from the beginning.
He was the guy that kept the meetings moving and provided humor and insight to
running a successful golf benefit. Jim also served on the Sequanota Board as
president and provided legal counsel to camp for over 25 years. Jim believed in the
benefits of a camp experience for kids.
Additional donations given in memory of Jim will
be earmarked for camper scholarships.
Golfers of all ages and abilities are invited to play at
the 15th Annual Golf Benefit. Our quarterly benefits
help to make summer camp more affordable to
children and their families. All campers received a
cost break of over $200 because of events like the Golf

It is time for something new! God is doing something new in our
world. This summer Sequanota is inviting adults and families to join
us in the annual ‘Create, Connect, Collaborate’ community.
This community will be gathered for a weeklong event in which God, music, worship,
swimming, painting, Bible study, nature,
technology, yoga, puppets, cooking, fellowship
and much more will be at the center of our
lives. This is a weekend to explore a hobby,
collaborate with others, rest and renew while
giving yourself and your family the time to
create. You pick the activities. There will be a
core team leading workshops and seeking
collaboration throughout our time together.
