Antimony was named after the Greek words anti
and monos to mean “a metal not found alone.”
Antimony is a silvery, lustrous gray metal. It is a
poor conductor of heat and electricity.
Discovered in 1600 BC by “the ancients”
Antimony metal is extracted primarily from stibnite
Used for infrared detectors, also used to make
flame-proofing materials, paints, ceramic enamels,
glass and pottery. Technical and Industrious
purpose.
It is also used for bullet casting.
