1. ACADIA CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP AND CATHOLIC ACADIA: Come meet other Christians at Acadia! Acadia has a thriving and active Christian community through the Chapel right here on campus! LOCATION: CHAPEL BASEMENT D IRECTIONS : The Chapel is at the bottom of the road that leads away from Meal Hall – on the left when walking down the hill. It’s the building between the BAC and U-­‐Hall, with the white spire, behind Seminary House. 2. ACADIA DANCE COLLECTIVE AND DANCE ACADIA: The ADC and the DA will be teaching four mini-­‐combos in four styles of dance. They will be presented in the following order: (hip hop, jazz, contemporary, ballet). Come for one session or all four! All levels of dancers welcome! LOCATION: DANCE STUDIO (BASEMENT OF OLD SUB) D IRECTIONS : Enter through the door between the Old and New Student Union Buliding (SUB) -­‐ on your right when walking between them going towards town. It is under the walkway between the two SUBs. 3. ACADIA FENCING CLUB: Ever wanted to try sword fighting? Come and try it with the Fencing Club who will be hosting an introduction to the art of fencing! LOCATION: MACKEEN ROOM (NEW SUB) D IRECTIONS : Enter the main doors of the New Student Union Building, and immediately turn left. Walk past the couches, Cajuns, and Alicia Romkey’s office to the doors and staircase. Go up the stairs one flight. The door to the MacKeen Room will be on your left. 4. ACADIA LIVE DIFFERENT CLUB Life in Canada is blessed with many conveniences for our daily needs. But how deep does economic equality really go? Do you know the inclusiveness of poverty in Canada? In the world? Have you always wanted to learn how you can help the people in your backyard who are in need? The Acadia Live Different Club is presenting activities to help you learn the extent of poverty in Canada and put it into global context. It’s easier than you think to help those around you! Go up two floors; the classroom is down the hall on your left when exiting the staircase. 6. ACADIA PHYSICS SOCIETY: Want to try Physics Trivia, and learn about what the Physics Department is up to during the school year? The Physics Society wants to share their knowledge with anyone and everyone! LOCATION: PHYSICS LOUNGE D IRECTIONS : The Physics Lounge is located on the second floor of Huggins. 7. ACADIA ULTIMATE PLAYERS SOCIETY: Have you ever wanted to try out Ultimate Frisbee, or learn why it’s one of best sports? Acadia’s Ultimate Players society is one of the most popular pastimes, and are teaching the basics of their sport! This would especially useful if you want to participate in their event coming up this week! LOCATION: FRONT FIELD D IRECTIONS : They will be on the Campus side of the Acadia University Sign on the Front Lawn, across from the Athletic Complex. 8. ACADIA UNIVERSITY PSYCHOLOGY ASSOCIATION: Want to know a basic introduction of what psychology is, and how important it is at Acadia? Join the Psychology Association to learn about their role at Acadia! You do not have to be a psychology major in order to attend! LOCATION: PSYCHOLOGY LOUNGE (HORTON HALL) D IRECTIONS : Horton Hall is the stone building that is one building uphill from Huggins Science Hall, and the building next to Barrax! The Psychology Lounge is located on the Fourth Floor; it is the last lab on the left side of the hall when you turn left out of the staircase. 9. CARICOM: Many Acadia students come from the Caribbean, and the Caricom (CARI-­‐bbean COM-­‐munity) invites students of all backgrounds in finding out more about the Caribbean influence at Acadia! Meet the executive of this lively Club and learn more about their role in Acadia’s Community! LOCATION: MICHENER LOUNGE D IRECTIONS : Go into the new SUB through the main doors. On your right (a little past the TV) there will be staircase. Go up two flights of stairs to the Lounge. They will be in the further conference room off of the Michener Lounge. 10. DEBATE CLUB Ever wanted to try your skills are debating? Join the Debate Club and try to argue with them on why should be in the Debate Club! Don’t know a lot about history, but want to know a little more? The History Society is hosting a meet and greet with trivia! The History Lounge is located on the 4 Floor of the BAC. It’s almost right across from the elevator in the BAC (turn left and go up the stairs across from Quizzno’s in the BAC, it’s about halfway down the hallway). Or walk up either staircase in the BAC. One is located at the far end of the BAC (closest end to town), and the other is between 141 and the reading area near Quizzno’s. 12. KAPPA THETA CHI: Decorate and eat delicious cupcakes with the Kappa Theta Chi girls! LOCATION: BAC 138 D IRECTIONS : Go down the stairs in the BAC that are across from Quizzno’s. After passing through the doors, 138 will be on your right side. 13. MENTAL HEALTH SOCIETY: Decorate and eat delicious cupcakes with the Kappa Theta Chi girls! LOCATION: BAC 137 D IRECTIONS : Go down the stairs in the BAC that are across from Quizzno’s. After passing through the doors, 137 will be on your right side. 14. NUTRITION AND DIETETIC SOCIETY: Are you a foodie? Do you think you know a lot about food? Join the Nutrition and Dietetic Society to do some Food Trivia and show off what you know and learn some new things about food! LOCATION: HUGGINS 422 D IRECTIONS : There are stairs to your right when you enter Huggins (turn right twice, and go down the hall way). The Nutrition Lounge will be on the top floor, to your right after you exit the staircase. 15. OH SNAP!: Join Acadia’s photography community for some insight on the photography scene at Acadia! Acadia has a beautiful and picturesque campus, perfect for the aspiring photographer. Ask the Photography Club all your questions about photographing the Valley! They will be in the further conference room off of the Michener Lounge. 16. SLACKLINE CLUB: Do you have enough balance to walk the slackline? Ever wanted to try slacklining or tightrope walking? Go down to the front field and join the Slackline Club for some fun and slack off this afternoon! LOCATION: FRONT FIELD D IRECTIONS : The Slackline Club will be between two trees on the field in front of U-­‐Hall, where the Acadia University Sign is, off of Main Street. 17. SPANISH CLUB: Ever wanted to learn very basic Spanish vocabulary? Or learn about what the Spanish Club does during the School year? Join them in their Lounge and learn all about the Spanish influence at Acadia! LOCATION: SPANISH LOUNGE (BAC ??) D IRECTIONS : 18. SQUASH CLUB: Ever wanted to see what it was like to have a rubber ball bouncing around a small room while you were running around trying to hit it and score against a frenemy? Come down to the Athletic Complex and try out Squash! With over 50 active members, the Squash Club is one of the most popular clubs at Acadia! They love teaching people the craft of squash, and are always looking to welcome old and new squashers. LOCATION: SQUASH COURTS (ATHLETIC COMPLEX) D IRECTIONS : The courts are located downstairs. You go down the stairs to the locker rooms, and then turn left along the basketball courts. Turn right and it is the first door on your left. There should be a sticker on the door to label which door it is! There is also a corkboard beside the Squash room door! 19. THAT DAM IMPROV: Are you secretly (or not so secretly) an actor or actress in your own right, but aren’t able to take theater as a major or minor? Want to saturate your time with the art of acting? Or do you just want to put on someone else’s shoes for a while for some laughs? Well, join That Dam Improv for some fun and interactive improvisation sessions! Who knows what they will decide to do! LOCATION: STUDENT CONFERENCE CENTER (BASEMENT OF NEW SUB) D IRECTIONS : After entering the New SUB through the main doors, walk to the staircase between Perkins (the coffee place) and the pizza place. The staircase is against the far wall of the SUB (from the entrance), by Safety and Security. Walk down the stairs to the Basement. When exiting the stairs, there will be a row of windows on your right, and a door just past them. That’s the SCC!
