CATS
AGE AT RISK
Cats between 3 and 11 are more often affected by obesity and exposed to
diabetes risk

HOW MANY cats suffer from diabetes? This is a popular question.
Unfortunately, that disease is more common than thought. Recent studies
(Lutz, 2008) prove that 1 cat out of 100 suffers from diabetes. The second
question comes automatically: what are the causes of that disease? The main
factor is obesity. According to a research on obesity in different life stages
(Scarlett, 1994, and Robertson, 1999: study involving 2,671 subjects) cats
between 3 and 11 are more affected by obesity and, consequently, more
exposed to the risk of diabetes.
Food may play a fundamental role; Royal Canin has formulated and
produced the complete range of Diabetic Feline diets for cats suffering from
diabetic problems and tending to be overweight. Diabetic Feline helps
decrease glycaemia though it ensures a good amount of glucose; it also
reduces the adipose tissue and body weight.
DIABETIC FELINE. With Diabetic Feline, Royal Canin supports the retailer
and vet in suggesting their customers how to nourish their cats correctly and
ensure their health and wellness according to their real demands. Two are
the formulas: Diabetic Feline Wet - the latest formula with chunks in gravy and Diabetic Feline Dry – with a new formula. Both varieties boast several
properties:
- High Protein: the high protein amount keeps themuscles strong while the
cat looses weight;
- Low Starch: the low starch amount reduces the energy level;
- Moderate Calorie: low energy limits obesity, which may be the cause of
diabetes;
- Gluco Modulation: using starch sources that release sugar in blood slowly,
the formula helps control diabetic symptoms.
The food is highly palatable. Studies carried out in Royal Canin’s R&D
department show that cats prefer Diabetic Feline compared to other similar
products.

suoi veri fabbisogni specifici.
dimagrimento;
Low Starch: il basso livello di amido riduce
l’apporto energetico;
Moderate Calorie: la formula a basso valore
energetico limita l’obesità che predispone al diabete;
