Red Wagon Organic Farm

2014 FARM SHARE INFORMATION SHEET & APPLICATION
About Our Farm Share Program: Participating in the Isabelle Farm Share Program
allows you to enjoy organic produce while knowing exactly how, where and by whom
it was grown. Our Farm Share Program is based on the Community Supported Agriculture
(CSA) model. CSA is a direct partnership between eaters (members) and farmers that keeps
working agricultural land in production. Members support the farm by purchasing a
Farm Share in advance of the harvest. This allows seasonal farms like ours to invest in the
upcoming season and make capital improvements at a time of year when cash flow is usually
negative. Members’ investment in the farm is returned throughout the peak of the local
growing season, when they receive a variety of high-quality, fresh organic produce.
What’s included in an Isabelle Farm Share?
>> A selection of organic, fresh-picked vegetables, melons, and herbs. (See page 4 for a list of what we grow.)
>> Field Notes, our weekly e-newsletter, which features behind-the-scenes insights into the workings of an organic
market farm, staff bios, and details on how to store, handle and prepare the produce in your share.
>> Member events and volunteer days, advance notice of farm dinners and special events.
>> A direct connection to the farm and the source of your food.
What kind and how much produce does a Farm Share include?
>> Members can expect to receive 4-8 varieties of produce per week, averaging 10 pounds per pickup,
with the variety and quantity increasing as the season progresses.
>> A Large Weekly Share is designed to provide 4-6 people with enough produce to last one week.
>> A Medium Weekly Share is designed to provide 2-3 people with enough produce to last one week.
>> An Every-Other-Week Share is a Large Share that you pick up every other week (10 times/season).
How long is the Farm Share season?
>> In 2014, Isabelle Farm’s CSA Farm Share Program will run 20 weeks, from June 11 through October 23.
What other local products can I purchase in conjunction with your farm share program?
Ela Family Farms Fruit Shares + Conscious Coffees Shares + Roberts Ranch Grass-Fed Beef (See page 3 for details.)
How much do shares cost?
 The price of a Large Weekly Share is $685 per season (an average of $32/week), plus sales tax.*
 The price of a Medium Weekly Share is $485 per season (an average of $22/week), plus sales tax.*
 The price of an Every-Other-Week Share is $370 per season (an average of $32/week), plus sales tax.*

If you are able to pick up your share at the Barn at Thomas Open Space, deduct $40 from the cost of your share.
*Applicable sales tax on “food for home consumption” is 3.56% in the City of Boulder and 3.5% in the City of Lafayette.
What is the best pickup point for me?
Good question, for a few reasons. The first is that some of our share options are only for pickup on Thursdays. For
example, if you’d like to participate in the Ela Family Farms Fruit Share Program, you’ll need to pick up on Thursdays (for
logistical reasons). Also, if part of your aim in participating in a Farm Share Program is to get to know your farmers, your
farm, our growing practices and how weather/water/the seasons and other factors affect the availability of food in this
area, there’s no better way to do it than by picking up your share at one of our on-farm pickups at Thomas Open Space,
where we farm the 13.5 acres that surround the barn that houses our farm stand. Here, we welcome CSA members to
walk the fields and experience how we grow your food. Furthermore, it’s a beautiful location, adjacent to Waneka Lake
and the Greenly Wildlife Preserve, so you can make the trip to pick up your share a chance to fit in a run or walk around
the lake at the end of the work day. Also, because of the costs associated with delivering food, those who pick up at the
barn receive a $40 discount on the cost of participation in the Isabelle Farm Share Program.

Farm Share Member Commitment: I wish to strengthen the local food system in Boulder County by becoming a member of the
Isabelle Farm Share Program. By purchasing a share, I am helping to preserve local, small-scale, sustainable agriculture. I understand
that due to the unpredictable nature of the weather, there are no guarantees as to the amount or variety of produce I will receive
on a weekly basis. I also understand that I am responsible for picking up my produce every week at the time and location I have
selected and understand that any missed pickups will be forfeited. Refunds will not be available once payment has been made.

The Fruit Program ($200)
We partner with Ela Family Farms to offer certified USDA Organic, peak-of-ripeness peaches, pears, apples
(and fresh-pressed cider) that can’t be reliably grown here in Boulder County. Each share contains some
ready-to-eat fruit and some fruit that will ripen or store over a 3- to 10-day period. The Ela Family Farms
CSA Fruit Share offers approximately 80 pounds of organic fruit over 12 weeks. Please note, fruit share pickups
continue to October 30, which is AFTER the veggie share ends on October 23. Due to Ela’s picking and delivery
schedule, Fruit Shares are distributed on Thursdays only. You must be in the Vegetable Share CSA to participate.
