1. Marching Band Summary: Thank you! A huge “thank you” to all parents, teachers, administrators, and supporters during our marching season
this year. It was great to see so many “band fans” at our home football games and competitions. Here are the results of this years’ marching season:
Southwest Iowa Band Jambouree: Glenwood, IA –

IHSMA State Marching Band Festival: Hosted by Lewis Central High School

LCHS Titan Band Marching Band Awards Night – Held at LC. We will also kick off our “Friends of the Band” fundraiser at this event!
We had many positive comments about Lewis Central hosting the IHSMA State Marching Contest. When receiving the many comments about this
event, I always reply….”I did not do it alone, many hands helped in making this a success for the students of SW Iowa”… This is very true. It was
great to have this event “back at LC”, and I look forward to continuing this tradition!
2. Jazz Update: Thursday p.m. Jazz rehearsals – are Thursday’s from 6 to 8:30 for Jazz Bands. We will be learning during each and every one of
these rehearsals, and all students who are in Jazz Band and Jazz Orchestra are required to attend. Please plan to have your student at LCHS at 6:00
p.m. We will be done promptly at 8:30 p.m. Darrin and I will be running both bands at the same time in the band and choir rooms.
3. November Band Parent Organization Meeting: The Titan Band Parent Organization meeting for November is not going to take place due to
jazz band schedules. Thanks for your understanding – all communication concerning band needs will be through email and notes to parents through
students.
4. Craft Fair – The LC Titan Band Annual Fall Craft Fair is November 3rd, 2007 at LCHS and LCMS. Help with this event is required from all
band students at Lewis Central. There will be many opportunities for volunteering, which include duties the day of the event, before and after.
Please see your student, or the TV in the band room for more information.
5. Simpson College Honor Jazz Band – Three Lewis Central Students were accepted into the Simpson College Jazz Band. They are:
Stephen Bond – Trumpet
Nick Kempton – Alto Sax
Nate Black – Bass Trombone
These students will be traveling to Simpson November 6th, where they will be with other students from the state of Iowa, and will perform in a final
concert that evening with a special clinician from New York City.
6. SWIBA Honor Band Auditions in Red Oak are coming fast! (December 8) Please help them practice on their own! Wednesday’s will be
SWIBA day after school, if your student would like a lesson, please have them sign up on the board!
7. The Iowa All-State Band – 4 Lewis Central students qualified through audition in Atlantic for the Iowa All State Band. They will travel to Ames
with Mr. Johnson, Ms. Nally, the vocal students and myself on November 16, 17, and 18. More information will come soon. Students selected were:

8. Augustana Honor Band - 10 Lewis Central Students qualified through director recommendation for the Augustana College Honor Band in
Sioux Falls, SD. This is the maximum number of students that can be accepted from any given school. These students will be going to Sioux Falls
on November 9, and will return to LC on November 11. Students selected were:

9. The Annual “Parade of Bands” Concert will take place on December 3, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. This annual event combines the 7th, 8th and 9-12
Bands into one concert event that is a great time for the entire family. Please be sure to mark your calendars for this event!
