Poetry Assignment 1: Speaker, Tone, and Sound Devices (pg. 357-358)
You will be writing a free verse poem, choose any rhyme scheme or no rhyme at all. Before you begin
writing, brainstorm who you want the speaker to be, what the speaker’s tone will be, and what sound
devices you’ll use to support the tone of your poem. Once you have made these choices, you can write
