OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH ESADE
The Summerfuel Barcelona curriculum is
specifically tailored for Summerfuel students
and taught in its entirety by faculty from one
of Europe’s top private universities, ESADE.
SPANISH LANGUAGE IMMERSION
AFTERNOON SEMINARS
Spanish (3 levels)
Cultural Electives
Students take two and a half hours of Spanish language courses
Monday – Thursday mornings. Fridays are reserved for city-based
visits and cultural excursions. Students are placed into different
Spanish levels by ability, based on an online test administered prior
to the program. No previous knowledge of Spanish is required to
attend Summerfuel in Barcelona, and beginners are exempt from the
placement test.
Morning Spanish language classes are supplemented by afternoon cultural electives that meet two afternoons per week and are
designed to give students a deeper insight into Spanish history and
culture. Classes are field-based when possible, ensuring enhanced
exposure, immersion and intimate familiarity with Barcelona. Coursework is dynamic and discussion based, while homework is limited to
ensure that students are able to make the most of their time abroad.
Our teaching method is founded on active, experiential learning in
a non-traditional educational environment. Our Spanish language
course is designed to be both educational and fun, emphasizing student interaction over rote memorization. This hands-on course meets
four days a week for two and a half hours totaling thirty hours of class
work, comprising grammar, comprehension and oral study.
Spanish study is project-based to make it as fun and dynamic as possible. Students will complete a short film, magazine or journal.
Course are taught in Spanish.
