Kate’s Residence Halls
Housing in Carondelet
Built in 1912, Carondelet originally served as the Novitiate for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Today
this building serves multiple purposes - conference meeting spaces, Sisters of St. Joseph administrative
offices, and now St. Catherine University housing. Students living on the third floor will enjoy the
beautiful, classic features of this historic building along with modern amenities like wireless internet, cable
TV, computer lab and printer space, free laundry, two full kitchens, and ample lounge space.
In addition to general student housing, the East Wing will house the Honors Learning Community. Part of
the West Wing will house the ASL Living-Learning Community.
Upper-class and graduate students are eligible to live in Carondelet provided they do not have serious
infractions in their conduct file. Residence Life Community Policies apply while living in Carondelet.
Additionally, residents are asked to:
Park only in St. Kate’s lots.
Refrain from exploring or utilizing the other floors in Carondelet.
Treat the space with respect. Residents are considered guests of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Located on 3rd floor of the
Carondelet Center, this floor
has 8 spacious rooms, a large
kitchen and a lounge space.
With large windows, classic
crown molding, and other
features, Carondelet shares
similar characteristics with
Whitby Hall.
Features:
-Most rooms have three or
four built-in closets.
-Most rooms have two
windows.
-University furniture replaces
what you see here.
-While not air-conditioned,
each room has a ceiling fan.
-Individual control of heat
thermostat.
There is a laundry room on the
floor. Laundry would continue to
be “free” (i.e. paid through your
housing fee).
Carondelet East boasts lovely
common areas, perfect for
socializing, study, or relaxing.
New to 2013, we welcome another section of the
Carondelet Building into our Residence Hall
family. Furniture in the following photos will be
taken out and replaced with current University
furniture.
There are three community spaces in the West Wing of Carondelet. The
lounge pictured on the left is a cozy TV area. Above this lounge is a lofted
community room. The lounge space on the right is an elevated, open
lounge with a high domed ceiling. The furniture pictured here will be
replaced with University lounge furniture.
