Dear Students, Have you ever… Heard a possum racing across your roof at night? Watched a flock of Noisy Miners feeding in a tall eucalypt tree? Felt the watchful eye of an Eastern Water Dragon upon you? Here in Australia, we share our natural places with THOUSANDS of species of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles, but most of us don’t know much about these amazing creatures. For example, did you know… Green tree frogs swallow with their eyes! Cicadas are the loudest insect in the world and spend most of their lives underground! Australia is the only place in the world where you can still find the lung fish which is a living fossil from the Triassic period 350 million years ago! We need to find out all about the living things that share our natural places. If we don’t, how can we protect and care for them?! That is why we are inviting you to become… Wildlife Investigators!! Wildlife Investigators discover and examine facts and information about living things and how to care for them, and then share their discoveries with others.
