VOCABULARY
Every two weeks you will have a vocabulary quiz—ten new words each quiz. For
a classwork grade, you must:
1) Define each word
2) Provide an antonym
3) Provide a synonym
4) Provide a part of speech
5) Use it in a grammatically correct sentence that clearly shows the meaning of
the word.
I use Dictionary.com when I need to look up words. I also use Thesaurus.com
for antonyms & synonyms. If there is more than one definition, please use the first
one, unless I have already specified a part of speech. If there is no antonym or
synonym for a word, then write N/A in the box—you will not be penalized for a
missing word if one doesn’t exist.
This assignment is due on quiz day. It is your responsibility to look up the
words, study and complete the assignment. All assignments must be completed in
chart form with sentences written neatly below (See back); any assignment not
handed in in chart form will automatically lose 20 points from their overall
grade.
The words for the entire year are here – I will give you due dates as we move through
the year. Please do not lose this list! If you do, it is your responsibility to get it—either
a new copy from the classroom, or from online on my blog.
