The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America
hen in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political
bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the
separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect
to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the
separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their
Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
— That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from
the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these
ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its
foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely
to affect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established
should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that
mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the
forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably
the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their
duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. — Such has been
the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter
their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of
repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny

“When we view the blessings with which our country has been favored, those which we now enjoy, and the means
which we possess of handing them down unimpaired to our latest posterity, our attention is irresistibly drawn to
the source from whence they flow. Let us then, unite in offering our most grateful acknowledgments for these

There will be an all ministry meeting on Tuesday, July 21, 6:30pm to discuss Relational

The Women’s Ministry is taking the summer off and will resume regular meetings on Saturday, September 12
at 9:30am. All women who attend Scio Baptist are welcome to attend these meetings and share input or help
lead discussions. Here are some things to be praying about this summer:



Women’s Retreat - What the best options are for our church and possibly for our community
Holiday Bazaar - How we can make this successful as well as a welcome event in the community
Ladies’ Nights Out - For guidance on how these should be organized and what they can bring to the
women of the church

Family Fun Night - The Women’s Ministry group will be sponsoring an Outdoor Games & Snack night
on August 12

Children’s Ministries
Nursery- Contact: Beth Blumenstein
Thank you to everyone who has been helping out in the Nursery during church! It has been such a blessing to
have enough volunteers on a regular basis. If you’d like to volunteer in the nursery, please let Beth
Blumenstein know. Although we are regularly staffed, we sometimes need substitutes. It also might give one
of the regulars a chance to try out children’s church or another ministry if they want. Unfortunately, we have
not had many children in the nursery lately, so we have not been needing high school (or junior high) help. If
you are under the age of 18 and would like to help out with children, please let Beth Blumenstein know. There
is always some kind of help needed with children’s ministries.

The Upper Room- Jr/Sr High Youth Group
Contact: Dustin Blumenstein
The youth group does not currently have enough leaders to break into one Senior High and one Junior High
group, so we are still combined into one group. Because the two age groups are so different, ideally they would
be separated so that lessons can more directly address issues specific to the age. Please help us pray that
we will listen to God’s leading in a way that will help the youth in our church and in our community, whether it
takes the form of another female leader stepping up or keeping the group together with fewer leaders.
The Library

I recently attended the Pacific Northwest Association of Church Libraries annual conference. This is an event I
greatly anticipate every year! It is great fun to hang out with other librarians, attend workshops and meet
authors. I am always inspired to come back and try something new in our library. There were a number of
authors in attendance this year- I wish I could have purchased all of their books! They all sounded so
interesting. But, I did come back with a nice varied selection of books that will be on display during July.
I find a good book and a glass of iced tea are a good way to deal with the heat! Stop by and check out one of
the new books and let me know how you like it.
Don’t forget to remind your children to read over the summer!
