ProCargo CT1 – The lightest and most environmentally friendly
commercial vehicle!
Sortimo will throw you into a new dimension of transport and mobility with its newest product.
The cargo cycle ProCargo CT1 is characterised by its brilliant cornering ability made possible
by its patented tilting technology and the unique integration of load securing. With the
ProCargo CT1 Sortimo enables all service technicians, delivery services, bicycle couriers,
municipalities and everyone involved in factory traffic, a fast and healthy transportation option
without having to worry about traffic jams and licenses. In a pilot project with the leasing
company LeasePlan Deutschland GmbH (LeasePlan) and the Facility Service Provider ISS VSG
GmbH (ISS), the ProCargo CT1 is already in use.
The agile and powerful cargo cycle with an electric motor is Sortimo's answer to the mega trend of
urbanisation. Urbanisation will bring with it an increased demand for services in the urban area and
transportation approaches which are as free of emissions as possible due to air pollution. The logical
consequence for this is switching to alternative motors and even new vehicle types. The ProCargo
CT1 proves that this works because it combines the loading capacity of a small commercial vehicle
with the agility and flexibility of a bicycle which stands out in the factory traffic.
While developing the ProCargo CT1 the focus was placed on industrial clients, which is entirely
different from private usage. A differentiating factor for example would be the increased safety aspect.
This is the reason for designing the ProCargo CT1 as a three wheel cargo cycle, and yet it is designed
to be narrow enough so that it can fit through shut-off bollards and on bicycle paths, effortlessly. Two
supernova headlights with a water-proof aluminium casing provide outstanding illumination in the dark.
A further requirement is made necessary by the markedly higher yearly kilometre reading of up to
20,000 km. Downtimes in the industrial sector are not acceptable which is why all components are
almost maintenance free. There are specified maintenance intervals for wear and tear parts, which
Sortimo provides via its nationwide service network.
The cargo cycle ProCargo CT1 is available in two different loading space lengths with integrated
ProSafe load securing in the rail system left and right of the loading surface. In addition variable
different Sortimo transport constructional systems can be fastened easily via the rail system. These
vary from a simple lattice box with flexible tarpaulin up to a closed and weatherproof Sortimo HD
system-unit, which can be equipped with drawers, BOXXes and cases. Consequently, not only a
delivery service but also a service technician can securely stow away his goods and tools and
transport them safely and effortlessly on the cargo cycle.
Thanks to the patented tilting technology the ProCargo CT1 provides stability that is in a class of its
own. Even with a high payload of up to 160 kg, the pedelec is very resistant to tipping over, however
remains very agile and stable on the road and on footpaths thanks to its adjustable tilting technology.
Also untrained and alternating driver’s presents no safety hazard. The maximum permissible total
weight lies at a sensational 280 kg including driver and net weight of the Cargo Cycle (40kg).
The innovative tilting technology has 3 levels, which can all be conveniently adjusted on the handle
bars. Level 1 fixates the chassis, so that no tilting is possible, ideal for loading and unloading or simply
when pushing it slowly. Level 2 enables a slight tilting for manoeuvres in a confined space or for the
transport of heavy or unwieldy loads. Level 3 releases the entire tilting angle and unfolds an
unbelievable agile driving behaviour. This level gives the driver a feeling of freedom, as even gliding
through narrow streets poses no problem – that makes working fun.
With the energy of the electrical engine Performance Line from the leading international eBike engine
manufacturer Bosch, pedalling is supported with a speed of up to 25 km/h. Consequently the
ProCargo CT1 is a pedelec, which does not require a driver’s licence for the driver or even require
registration. Even parking and driving on traffic calmed zones with the ProCargo CT1 no longer
presents a problem.
When it comes to the innovative Bosch Powerpacks of the Performance Line we are talking about a
lithium-ion-battery with 500 Wh energy budget. The range reaches 70 to 100 km depending on the
payload and you are fully charged in 4.5 hours. For the worst case, Sortimo has a compartment at the
front of the ProCargo CT1 for depositing a spare battery, which provides new energy. In addition a
helmet, L-BOXX Mini with a repair kit, high visibility jacket and further practical accessories can be
stored in the lockable compartment.
ProCargo CT1 as an extension of the business fleet
The target group, amongst others, for Sortimo is the business fleet, which can integrate the ProCargo
CT1 as an intelligent extension to their fleet. The demand for star shaped organised hub-and-spokesystems is higher than ever, especially in the logistics, parcel and mail delivery as well as express
service sectors. Sortimo is the ideal partner here, because we offer you the right load securing and
equipment concepts for your transporters from the warehouses to the hubs and ultimately facilitate the
fast distribution to the recipients with the cargo bikes. The systematics of a star shaped logistics
system with central transhipment points and warehouses is conceivable in the future, not only for the
CEP branch, but also for all service providers in urban areas over time. A requirement, that Sortimo
already enables today, as a trend setter.
Pilot project Sortimo with LeasePlan Deutschland GmbH and the ISS VSG GmbH
The ProCargo CT1 is currently being tested in a pilot project with the Facility Service Provider ISS.

customer of Sortimo and the leasing company LeasePlan. “As a leasing company we have been
occupying ourselves with alternative drive systems for a long time, however, up to now in the area of
cars and vans. Sortimo, brings an alternative onto the market with its cargo cycle, which represents a
valuable complement to our existing portfolio for our international clients. Together with ISS and
Sortimo, we are testing the practical application in factory traffic and putting the ProCargo CT1 to the
test regarding maintenance and repair behaviour.” says Gunter Glück, Managing Director of sales and

Market launch
It will be possible to order the ProCargo CT1 as of the IAA Commercial Vehicle Trade Fair 2016, and it
will be deliverable in the second quarter of 2017. The mobility concept was developed together with
the competence of HNF Heisenberg in the eBike sector and the expertise of Sortimo in the area of
transport systems. The ProCargo CT1 is available in all Sortimo branch offices with the correlating
transport and load securing accessories.
