Christ Church Primary School Reception News Issue 15 Teaching and Learning We started our new topic ‘Commotion in the Ocean’ this week and during this half term we will be finding out about the different creatures that live in the sea. We have begun to explore how some animals live on the land and others live in water and have sorted these into two groups. The children have looked at underwater pictures and video clips and have used interesting language and adjectives for size, shape and colour to describe what they could see. Later in this half term we will be holding a special assembly where you can come and share with the children the learning that has taken place. Letters and sounds Phase 2 group: This week the children have revisited all of the phase 2 phonemes and have focused reading and spelling their 3 letter words by blending sounds together and segmenting to spell. The children are learning to segment the sounds in these words orally in order to help them write them independently and to say and blend them together when Friday 6th January Ideas for learning at home Share reading books as often as possible and remember to sign the diary to earn rainbow badges!
