Community Life 21st May

inconvenience this causes. Office hours will resume as normal from Monday 5th June.
Evening service / 6.30pm
Please join us for our more informal evening service as we continue in our series, ‘Living
the Christian life’. Tonight’s passage will be 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, looking at the Lord’s
Supper.
Healthy and safety notices
 Please make sure your children do not go on the ‘stage’ area. Thank you!
 Please do not leave your possessions unattended in church. Sadly, a couple of
things have been stolen recently. Please be alert to anything suspicious.
Church teaching weekend
A weekend of teaching from Chris Stead on the Fatherhood of God. There will also be times
of prayer and praise. Tea and cake will be provided. Please bring your own lunch on the

Saturday 17th June 9.30-12noon, followed by lunch together / Doors open at 9am
Church gift day / Sunday 4th June
Our gift day will be for a new visuals system here at church. This will include two new
screens up front, a video camera (so we can film the sermons), and all the necessary cables
to connect the visuals to the screen in the lounge. This project is estimated to cost £5000,
and is needed as the projector we currently use is borrowed!
Community Café Drop-in / Thursdays 10am-12noon
Come along for a cuppa, breakfast, and a chat. Anyone and everyone is welcome!
Church mailing list
If you would like to be added onto the church mailing list, please email the church office.
You will receive the Community Life sheet each week, along with other emails.
Work party / Saturday 27th May 10am-4pm
We’re organising another work party to tackle some jobs to improve the state of the
church building and grounds. We are looking for volunteers for just a few hours or so to
help. Lunch will be provided. No experience is necessary but please come appropriately
dressed for the work you wish to do. To join us, please sign the paper on the welcome
desk.
St Clement’s Gospel Trust
All money given to this Trust will support Henry Alexander and the work he does here at
church. If you would like to know more information about the Trust, or would like to give
to it, please pick up an information pack from the welcome desk.
English Class / Thursdays 10am-12noon
This class is suitable for anyone who would like to improve their conversational English. No
registration required. We will be meeting in the church lounge. The English class will be
followed by a simple Bible study designed to extend conversational English but suitable
for anyone in the church community, or not, who would like to take part.
Just Looking / Thursdays 7.30pm
Often people think God is boring or irrelevant to life. Through the Life Explored course,
we'll see how God isn't boring or irrelevent, but actually meets our deepest desires for
happiness and satisfaction. Come along on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm to find out
how. 'Just Looking' is a group aimed at helping people who are 'just looking' into the
Christian faith. It's informal, relaxed and is a chance to ask any questions you like.
Book Club
Book Club will next meet on Monday 5th June at 8pm at the rectory. We are reading
‘Seeking Allah, finding Jesus’ by Nabeel Qureshi. The book is available to buy from the book
stall.
BBC Songs of Praise recording / Thursday 8th June, 6.30-9.30pm
The BBC would like to invite us to a recording of contemporary worship hymns and songs
as part of a massed choir at Holy Trinity Platt Church. Please see the letter on the
noticeboard in the church lounge for more information, and how to sign up.
Offerings
St Clement’s does not take a collection. Instead there is a box by the sound desk if you
wish to contribute. Standing order forms are also available from the welcome desk.
