Bir mi N ng ha m Dr ive Pressure wastewater pipe already installed Key: Pressure Main 105 Odour duct New bio-filter Existing manhole Electrical kiosk Sourced from LINZ data, Crown Copyright reserved Where: What we are doing: All wastewater pipes ventilate their odours via manholes in the road, and through vents and fittings. To mitigate the risk of odours ventilating undesirably from Pressure Main 105 the air will be actively ventilated through a bio-filter. As the air passes through the bio-filter the bark natural processes remove odours before releasing into the atmosphere. The bio-filter will be connected to Pressure Main 105 which has already been installed through Marylands Reserve via an underground duct connected to a fan. Visually, the bio-filter will look like a bark garden and a small electrical kiosk will be located nearby to house the electrics for a fan. The area will be landscaped so it looks as unobtrusive as possible. Please turn over How our work could impact you, general impact: There will be increased noise, dust and vibration levels associated with this work, and the use of trucks and other machinery will be necessary. To connect the bio-filter to the manhole work will be needed on Birmingham Drive, near the entrance of Marylands Reserve. Two-lanes of traffic will be maintained via lanes shifts. This is expected to be completed in the first two weeks of the work. There will be reduced parking on Birmingham Drive during this time. The footpath on the Marylands Reserve side of Birmingham Drive will be closed while the connection is made to the manhole. Please use the footpath on the other side of the road. Works will take place between 7.00am and 6.00pm, Monday to Saturday. Works will have no planned impact on current telecommunication, wastewater, water or gas services. However, the network is still fragile so please be prepared in case there is an unexpected service cut off. There will be three other worksites in Marylands Reserve, to strengthen the joints along Pressure Main 105. This work is expected to be completed in October.
