Life is chugging along in
Winona Lake/Warsaw Indiana! On the Fourth of July,
I had a Middle eastern meal
with former grad student,
Yvonne Farley and her family, who live and work in
central Asia. Yvonne counsels many women in central
Asia and also coaches
Taekwondo!! It was so
sweet to catch up. I am so
proud of Yvonne.
I also had a chance to see
alumni, Gwynne Shaver’s
daughter before she and her
brother go to visit Gwynne
and Dwight Shaver in south
central Asia. Gwynne and
Dwight love the culture and
people of this Muslim nation.
This summer I have a new
graduate mental health
counseling student from
south central Asia staying
with me. I have been learning how to make (well, I am
the sous chef) all sorts of
eastern meals. They are delicious!!!
What a privilege to have
relationship with students
and alumni around the
world doing His great
work!!!!!!
We continue to grow in faculty (numbers, not weight)
and students. We are now
Yvonne Farley and Family
preparing for our first cohort of hybrid students who
will come to campus each
semester for a week and
then continue on line,
Skype, and other interactive
software during the rest of
the semester. I was first opposed to the idea but with
folks living around the
world and needing counsel-

ing training, I relented and
now see the great value of
this training. Please pray for
us as we welcome our first
group from around the
country in August.
In a couple of weeks, a few
friends and I are heading on
the road to visit the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church. We
will be a part of their prayer
night and I can’t wait to be a
part of this. Some of you
may be familiar with the
pastor of this church, Jim
Cymbala, through his book,
Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire.
Please drop us a line so we
can be updated regarding
your lives and so we can
pray for you.

Brand New Books!
"Help! I'm a Mom To Be!" was
released. Help! I'm a Mom To
Be! is designed to be a preventive tool to ward off
postpartum depression. Help! I'm a Mom To Be!
is created to identify, tackle,
and address present day
pregnancy issues within the
Christian world. Broken
down into nine chapters to
travel alongside the expecting mom, it offers each
mother the opportunity for
her own personal-reflection,
scriptures to study, prayers
to ponder, and true stories
to read that will guide her
nine months of preparation
for parenthood. A tenth
chapter was created after my
husband and I experienced a
miscarriage and felt that
God would also use these
broken pieces. Help! I'm a
Mom To Be! is designed to
help women focus on the
changes around them, placing special emphasis on the
spiritual and personal
changes within. I've attached the book cover and

Grace Counseling Department Hope Wall
Hope is the thing with
feathers that perches in
the soul,
And sings the tune-tune-without the words and
never stops at all…
~Emily Dickinson
Hope is essential for
those residing in the land
of suffering and for
those walking alongside
companions bereft of
hope. Thus, we are beginning the HOPE wall
in our clinical room. The
graduating class of 2010
created the first piece
that is proudly gracing
our wall. And two more pieces are presently being created. We would like to invite you to consider adding a
piece of hope to our wall. It may be a quote, painting,
word… We are hoping that this wall would be encouragement to all who gaze in it’s direction.
~Tammy

A Letter from the Hostetlers
During the 2007-2008
school year, Lance and I
were introduced to a fellow student that many of
you may be familiar with,
Kibaeg Lee. After this
friendship blossomed, we
journeyed to Seoul, South
Korea to fulfill crosscultural requirements for
the graduate counseling
program. We had the opportunity to stay with and
learn from Kibaeg whilewe
were in Korea. This trip
marked us with a deep
love and admiration for
the Korean people. Since
that time, God has worked
within our circumstances
to draw us back to Korea.
Lance and I have recently
accepted jobs as ESL
teachers in Seoul, South
Korea. We will be working
in Korea at a year-round
Christian School, teaching
Korean kindergarten and
elementary students to
speak English, beginning in
July 2010. Lance and I are
very excited to have the
opportunity to share our
faith withthe school and
community we will be living
among school and community we will be living
among. We are also hoping
to get connected with other
ministry opportunities
there, whether they are
within the local church,
school, or elsewhere. Please
pray for us as we adjust to
the culture, language, and
attempt to build lasting
friendships with the people
there. Please ask God to
make it clear to us the areas
of ministry that He wishes
us to serve in.
In Christ,
