Limited Government: Why a Progressive State Can`t Take Care of All

Limited Government:
Why a Progressive State Can’t Take Care of All of Us!
Today’s American liberals, or progressives, as
many are now calling themselves, are fanatic
believers in a system which sounds good but
does not work because of our basic human
nature and the numbers just don’t add up.
Jonah Goldberg explains in his book, Liberal
Fascism that the term totalitarianism was
coined by Benito Mussolini of Italy:
“to describe a society where everybody
belonged, where everybody was taken
care of, where everything was inside the
state and nothing was outside: where
truly no child was left behind.”
Goldberg continues, “it is my argument
that American liberalism is a totalitiarian
political religion, but not necessarily an
Orwellian one. It is nice, not brutal,
Nannying, not bullying. But it is
definitely totalitarian—or „holistic,‟ if you
prefer, in that liberalism today sees no
realm of human life that is beyond
political significance, from what you eat
to what you smoke to what you
say…Liberals place their faith in priestly
experts who know better, who plan,
exhort, badger, and scold. They try to
use science to discredit traditional
notions of religion and faith, but they
speak the language of pluralism and
spirituality to defend “nontraditional”
beliefs. Just as with classical fascism,
liberal fascist speak of a “Third Way”
between right and left where all things
go together and all hard choices are
„false choices.‟” 1
Goldberg’s choice of the term religion is an
important one, because to a liberal his
worldview is one in which Mussolini’s
totalitarianism is the only good choice for men
of good will. And anyone who notices that the
implementation of their policies does not bear

the fruits they believe it will are immediately
branded “fascist,” in one of the great ironies of
our time. For totalitarianism is fascist as both it
and today’s liberal (progressive) mindset
require the presence of total government
control into our lives, and our economy.
Limited government as defined by our
Founding Fathers is government perfectly
balanced in the middle of the governmental the
two governmental extremes of too much
government and none at all.
This country for which President Obama
apologizes every chance he gets fought a war
in which fathers fought against sons, and
brothers against brothers for all men and
women to be free. Republicans, so excoriated
by today’s liberals were the ones who fought
for civil rights for minorities in the 1960’s.
Today’s democrat party, supported by large
percentages of minorities, was actually the
party of the KKK, opposing civil rights for
blacks. They did implement the Great Society
and affirmative action which by their very
nature are racist, insisting that blacks cannot
be educated--so don’t correct their speech,
graduate them even if they do not master the
course material, grant them entrance into
universities where they have little or no chance
of succeeding on their own because of the poor
government schools provided them. Liberals
refuse the poor vouchers to use tax dollars to
seek our private schools which can and do
educate the minorities successfully, have built
a welfare state that has destroyed the families
that slaves fought to keep together, and now,
through abortion, are eliminating blacks and
minorities by the millions. This society rewards
those who do not succeed while punishing
those who do, all while keeping minorities and
the poor convinced that all this is in their best
interests.

Progressives have convinced many Americans
that conservatives who believe that every
person has the right to make decisions for
himself and his family with the responsibility to
face the consequences of those decisions, in
the free market, and traditional family values,
are bigots and racists. Like the breads and
circuses of ancient Rome, today’s
liberal/progressive agenda is seeking to make
all of us serfs at the fount of governmental
beneficence, but the American people are
standing up, and beginning the fight for
freedom and the restoration of the economic
and family values that made this nation great.
The Founding Fathers, having been educated in
a classical manner, knew the history of
governments as too few of us today do. They
also believed, as history proves to those who
read it with open minds, that men have not
evolved in the way that liberals believe we
have. If they were right, we could all sit down
at a table and reasonably discuss our
differences. There would be no leaders who,
upon hearing a report he didn’t want to hear,
would pull out a gun and shoot the general or
messenger dead. There would be no one who
makes family members watch as loved ones
are ground up in a plastic shredder, or fathers
and husbands made to watch as their wives
and daughters are brutally raped before their
eyes. No men would fly planes into buildings
causing thousands of deaths, and no one
would use innocent families and children as
human shields. No, man’s nature has not
changed, and we cannot trust men to control
our very lives by allowing the government to
tell us what we can eat, or how much we
weigh, what we can think, or say, or do, no
matter how well intentioned they may seem to
be at the time.
America was built on the belief in God, that He
created men and in His infinite Wisdom gave
man free will. Men do not always choose to do
what is right, and even good people can be
brought to tolerate great evil under certain
circumstances and over time.
The totalitarian government that President
Obama and the Democrats are forcing on this
country is the unsustainable dream of a
government spending our country into oblivion
to support the people whether we want them
to or not. The question is, as the government
is supporting all of us by increasingly complex
government regulations and ever rising
taxation on those businesses that produce
wealth, who will support the government?
It is imperative that we once more enforce the
limits on our government or America, the
world’s greatest beacon of individual freedom
and unalienable rights granted us by our
Creator, and not by men, will be no more. We
must restore the government to that which
was carefully, methodically, presciently limited
in the constitutional box designed for it by our
Founding Fathers.
