Our Direct Debit scheme explained Paying by monthly Direct Debit is safe and easy and helps you to spread the cost of your bills over the year. What’s more, paying by Direct Debit saves you money by giving you discounts on your energy bills. How our Direct Debit scheme works The amount of energy you use each month may change throughout the year. Energy bills tend to be bigger in the winter than the summer, but with Direct Debit you can spread the cost of your bills over the year, making budgeting easier. When we work out your Direct Debit, we make sure you don’t owe anything by your Annual Review. We then: We regularly review your Direct Debit to make sure you’re paying the right amount to cover the energy you’re using. 2.Take into account your current balance. If we need to increase or decrease your payments, we’ll let you know at least 10 days in advance. Your Direct Debit payments When we calculate your Direct Debit, we look at your last 12 months’ meter readings. This shows us how much energy you’ve used. If we don’t have a year’s worth of readings we’ll use estimated readings or other information, such as details about the property, to estimate how much energy you’ll use in the future. 1.Estimate how much you’ll use between now and then using your last 12 months usage. 3.Divide this amount by how many payments you have left until your Annual Review. How much energy you’re going to use until your Annual Review (£) + Balance When will I hear about my Direct Debit again? We’ll always send you a new schedule of payments at your Annual Review (either by email or letter), even if things are staying the same. Once you’re half way through your payment schedule, we’ll check to make sure you’re still on track, and we’ll let you know if anything needs to change. We may pop a message on your statement if you need to know anything. If you want to view your statements every quarter, you can register to manage your account online at eonenergy.com/register At the time of your Annual Review we’ll look at your account and decide whether your Direct Debit payments need to change. We always aim to make sure you have nothing else to pay by the time your next Annual Review comes around. If money is owed to you If you’re in credit by £5 or more at the time of your Annual Review (and we’ve had an actual meter reading within the last six months), we’ll automatically refund the amount into your bank account. If we haven’t done this at your Annual Review, please call us with your meter readings and we’ll work out if any money is owed to you. If you owe us money If you’re in debt at the time of your Annual Review, we’ll add anything you owe us to your payments over the next 12 months. If you decide to pay your balance, or if you want to agree a different payment arrangement, just give us a call on 0345 052 0000.
