Wow! What
a summer
it’s been.
Sheffield’s parks and open spaces
have been brought to life with one
of the biggest public art events
the city has ever seen.
N
ever before has our city been alive
with such colour, vibrancy and trunks creating a platform for people of
all ages to come together and enjoy
something very special.
It has captured the imagination of thousands of
residents and visitors who’ve been out exploring
the trail and rediscovering all that our amazing
city has to offer. Our social media feeds have
been awash with thousands of elephant selfies!
I’d like to say a huge thank you to The Children’s
Hospital Charity and Wild in Art for bringing this
event to Sheffield, for the creativity of the artists
and schools and the generosity of our sponsors.
Your support has been invaluable.
The trail has been tremendous fun and it’s all
raising money for the patients and families that
depend on Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
The Herd of Sheffield Auction is your chance to
own one of these unique sculptures and keep a
little bit of the Herd of Sheffield in your home or
workplace forever.
It will fund a life-saving piece of equipment – a
Multipurpose Fluoroscopy System, which will
provide children with the best chance of a full
and healthy life. You can read more about this on
page 9.
Please dig deep, bid generously and help ensure
that the Herd of Sheffield legacy helps make it
better for young children and their families for
generations to come.

Patron of The Children’s Hospital Charity

YOUR LEGACY FOR
OUR CHILDREN
The Herd of Sheffield is not just a world-class art event, it is a chance
to create a lasting legacy for Sheffield Children’s Hospital – one of just
four stand-alone children’s hospitals in the UK.
We urgently need to fund a Multipurpose Fluoroscopy System – a lifesaving piece of equipment which is used to obtain real-time moving
X-rays. This new equipment will enable our highly skilled radiologists to
diagnose and provide treatment which in turn will give our patients the
best possible chance of a full and healthy life.
Did you know the proposed Multipurpose
Fluoroscopy System…
Is the current gold
standard for the
timely diagnosis
and treatment of
vascular trauma
injuries, which can
lead to serious
blood loss.
Operates with as
little radiation as
possible, meaning
the process is
as safe as it can
possibly be.
Will enable us to ca

hospital – removin

Will enable our experts
to use Interventional
Radiology, a technique
which uses X-ray guidance
to selectively image and
need
treat different organs without the
for invasive surgery.

FAQs
Where is the auction?
What is a Telephone Bid?
What is the guide price?
The Crucible Theatre
55 Norfolk Street
Sheffield
S1 1DA
If you can’t attend the auction you
can still take part in the bidding by
pre-selecting which elephant(s) you
would like to bid for and how much
you are willing to pay. Please state your
preferred payment method when you
submit your bid on the Telephone
Bidding Form. You will be required
to provide a copy of your passport/
driving licence and a recent utilities bill
(from the last three months). We will
phone you before your lot is due so
that you can speak to a member of the
auction team live in the auction room
and instruct us to bid for you.
Whilst it is difficult to assess the likely
amount that any sculpture may sell for,
we believe a bid in excess of £1,500
should secure a sculpture. However,
prices realised could be higher and
we expect popular sculptures to raise
a significant amount for Sheffield
Children’s Hospital.
What time does it start
and end?
Registration begins at 5.00pm with
a drinks reception until 6.45pm.
The auction will start promptly at
7.00pm and we expect it to finish
at approximately midnight.
How do I get a ticket for
the Auction?
You can book tickets direct with
the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield,
by visiting their website at
www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk,
by phoning the Box Office on
0114 249 6000 or by visiting
the Box Office in person at the
Crucible Theatre, 55 Norfolk
Street, Sheffield, S1 1DA.
What can I do if I can’t
make it to the Crucible?
Telephone and proxy bidding will be
available if you are unable to attend
the auction in person. Please request
a bidding form from The Children’s
Hospital Charity on 0114 271 7203
or [email protected].
What is a proxy bid?
If you can’t attend the auction you can
still take part in the bidding. You select
which elephant(s) you would like to
bid for and how much you are willing
to pay. Please state your preferred
payment method when you submit
your bid on the Proxy Bidding Form.
You will be required to provide a copy
of your passport/driving licence and a
recent utilities bill (from the last three
months). A member of the auction
team will be authorised to bid on your
behalf to your specified limit.
If a bid is successful,
how do I pay for my
elephant?
You can pay by cheque and most
major debit and credit cards. Please
note credit cards will be subject
to a card transaction fee up to 2%.
Sculptures will not be released until
payment has been cleared.
Who do we make the
cheques payable to?
Please make cheques payable to
The Children’s Hospital Charity.

This Christmas
you can help make
Sheffield Children’s
Hospital better!
We’re calling on you to get into the
festive spirit and wear your finest elf
costume for National Elf Service
on Friday 16 December.
Y
our fundraising will give
children who are too poorly
to leave hospital an area
to play where they can
make new friends. All donations raised
through National Elf Service will help
fund a bright and child-friendly Play
Tower which will provide distraction
and fun for children to break up long
stays on the ward.
Whether you wear red socks, a green
jumper or dress in full elf attire join in
the festive spirit by getting your school,
community group or work involved.
Together we can make hospital less
daunting and help give patients
at Sheffield Children’s Hospital
the best present; a hospital
designed with them in mind.
Every £1 you donate will be
matched by Graham Royle of
GRI Group, meaning your donation
will be doubled instantly.
Alternatively your company could
sponsor a snowflake at Christmas
and help light up Sheffield
Children’s Hospital.
