Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,
Operation Christmas Child
We are recently all too aware of the results of
poverty and war on families and children –
Here is a chance to make a difference…
We hope to collect shoe boxes for Operation
Christmas Child again this year. Each one of our
children will receive a leaflet soon with
information about the charity and instructions
on how to put a gift box together. Mid
November is the deadline for these as they
have to be shipped off to
Africa and Eastern Europe. If
you have a box to be sent
off, we are collecting these
in the foyer so they are
ready to be sent off in good
time for Christmas. If you
can’t afford a whole box – we can make up a
few school ones – please send in what you can.
For the last 4 years we have collected over 80
boxes each year. This year we are aiming for
100!
PTA Cake Sale
There will be a PTA Cake Sale next
Wednesday 19th October. Cakes are
priced at 30p each (max 2 cakes for
juniors, 1 for infants). They can be bought at
breaktime and the rest will be sold after school.
Please send any donations on the morning.
Folly Farm Residential Trip
Year 4 children enjoyed a fun packed few days
away at Folly Farm. Special thanks to the staff
who gave up a night with their own families to
go with them.
Please see the school website for more
pictures.

Parents’ Evenings
Thanks to those who have already signed up –
we look forward to meeting with you next
week.
We hope you found signing up in the foyer an
improvement. Parents did ask us to try to
improve the system – a number commented
that it was tricky to get to both classes to see
when 2 consecutive slots were available when
you had to walk across the playground to the
other class. At least they are all in the same
place which will make this easier. In addition,
our office staff are able to pop out easily to
complete bookings by phone for those who
can’t get in to school.
We do listen – we have responded to your
feedback and hopefully improved.
Inset Days
Friday 25th November, 17th March 2017 and 26th
June 2017 are Staff Training Days. There will
be now school for children on these dates.
Lost Property
Unfortunately the Lost
Property box is full again
with many un-named
jumpers and belongings.
Please try to remember
to name all your child’s
belongings that come into school, so that we
can return them should they go astray!
Any items left by the end of next week will be
disposed of.
School Dinner Menu
There will be a new school lunch menu to start
after October half term. These will hopefully be
delivered next week.
In light of the recent reports of incidents in
our force area, the Avon & Somerset
Constabulary has issued the below statement:
During the past few days we have received several
reports of people dressed as clowns and behaving in
an anti-social and threatening manner.
It follows a number of similar incidents across the
country which have been widely reported in the
national media.
Insp Julie Knight, of the local policing directorate,
said: “We don’t want to stop people enjoying
themselves but we’d like to ask people to consider
how their behaviour will affect others.
“These incidents can potentially be very distressing
and frightening for those involved and we are taking
all reports made to us seriously.
“Anyone involved in intimidating or threatening
behaviour may well end up committing an offence,
being arrested and having a criminal record and
we’d urge them to think carefully about the
consequences of their actions.
“We’re aware of a number of social media groups
raising concerns about this type of behaviour and
we’d ask people to refrain from taking matters into
their own hands and to report anything they are
worried about to us.
“We’d also like to remind people that in dealing with
these issues valuable police resources are also being
used, potentially impacting on our capacity to
respond to other more serious incidents.”
Anyone with information can report it to us via
www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact-us/tell-ussomething
As always, if you have any concerns, please do
not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
