Quick Reference Card
Getting Started
•
Open your web browser and go to http://ovidsp.ovid.com.
•
Enter your User ID and Password in the login window; click Start OvidSP (Note: users at institutions using IP authentication will be sent directly to the OvidSP search screen, bypassing the OvidSP log-in screen).
•
Hover over the External Links tab in the menu above the product selection screen.
•
Select Primal Pictures from the drop-down menu, then Anatomy & Physiology Online
from the Primal Pictures drop-down menu.
•
This takes you to the Anatomy & Physiology Online product page, which lists all 19 of the modules included in your subscription.
•
Note about pop-ups:
Please note you may need to allow pop-ups in your web browser to view all the content;

Internet Explorer: Under Tools in the menu, toolbar, choose Popup Blocker, then Popup Blocker Settings and enter www.anatomy.tv in the textbox.
Mozilla Firefox: Under Tools in the toolbar, choose Options, then click Web
Features in the left hand column. If the Block Popup Windows option is already
selected, click the Allowed Sites button and enter www.anatomy.tv in the textbox
and click Allow.
Safari: Under Safari in the menu toolbar, make sure the Block Pop-Up Windows option is unselected.
Navigation
•
Your Subscription – Links to the product page, which lists all modules you have access to as
part of your subscription
• Anatomy & Physiology – Summarizes the features of the product
• Reviews – Provides an extensive list of testimonials from faculty and students across the
country who are using the product
• Log Out – Ends session (if you do not log off, you may not be able to login again until after the
time out period, which is defaulted to 15 minutes)
To start using one of the 19 modules, click on the title of the module in the list on the Your
Subscription page. The selected module will open in a new browser window.

Module Window
For most modules, the window is divided into 5 parts:
•
Navigation menu – Lists the topics and sections included in the module
•
What you need to know – Covers what users should learn from each topic or section
•
Main viewing window – Displays all images, interactive 3D models, and video tutorials
•
Anatomy and Physiology – Text related to the anatomy and physiology of the selected topic
•
Topic Quiz – Assesses users’ knowledge and understanding of what they’ve just studied
Navigation Menu
This vertical, scrollable menu provides access to all module topics, which are represented by a thumbnail image and title.
•
To return to the Your Subscription page, click the house icon.
•
To access a detailed help guide to the interface features, click the
question mark icon.
To view an animated tutorial of the module, click the “i” icon.
Select a specific topic, and the content in the What you need to
know, Main viewing window, and Anatomy and Physiology
sections will update accordingly (selected topics are shaded for easy identification).

Scroll vertically through topics by hovering over the up or down arrow (arrows become visible if a module contains more than six topics).
•
Access supplemental, textual content by clicking one of the four buttons located at the bottom of the menu (content can be saved as a PDF):
•
Aging – Learn more how the system you’re studying is affected by the aging process.
•
Clinical – Access relevant clinical examples.
•
Case studies – Access relevant case studies, which include questions and answers.
•
Module quiz – Take an interactive assessment. To progress through the quiz, select an answer and click Submit. You will instantly know
whether or not the answer you selected is correct.

What You Need to Know
For every topic, apart from the
Introduction, there are hyperlinks
to relevant content within that
topic. In effect, they provide
quick and easy access to specific
content that meets learning
objectives.
Main Viewing Window
Depending upon the module and the topic, the
window allows you to view and/or manipulate
3D Models of anatomical structures as well
as Animations. To maximize the window, click
the Maximize button in the upper right corner
of the window. 3D Models
• Use the interactive functions at the bottom of the viewer to zoom in or out,
change anatomical layers, rotate a model, and more.

• To highlight a specific anatomical structure in the model you’re viewing:
• Click the desired link in the Key Structures list in the right side of the window, or
• Hover over a structure in the window, which will display a label, then click on the structure.
Animations
Animations allow users to view muscles, tendons, and bones in motion. Some animations
include audio narrations. Animations are identified in the Anatomy and Physiology section by a
thumbnail image that displays a play icon.
• To load an animation in the main viewing
window, click on the play icon on the
thumbnail image in the Anatomy and
Physiology section.
• To play the animation, click on the large
arrow in the middle of the main viewing
window or the smaller play/pause button
at the bottom. Click the stop icon to
completely stop the animation.

Animations with audio are also identified by a thumbnail image with an arrow icon in the
Anatomy and Physiology section. • Click on the play icon on the thumbnail image to load in the main viewing window.
• To play the animation, click on the large arrow in the middle of the main viewing window or the smaller play/pause button at the bottom. Click the stop icon to completely stop the
animation.
• Click the mute button to mute the audio while the animation is still playing; click it again to
resume the audio track.
• To increase or decrease the volume of the audio, slide the volume control slider left or right.
• To display English-language subtitles, click the subtitles button, which is located to the right
of the volume control slider.
Additional Module Features
• To view an alphabetical index of all topics and sections covered in the module, click the Index button in the upper right corner of the screen.
• Within the index, click on a hyperlinked word or phrase to go to the related part of the module; click on the sound icon next to the word or phrase to hear the standard pronunciation of that word or phrase.
• To search within the module, enter terms in the search bar in the upper right corner of the
screen and click Search to display a search results window. Filter results by text, image,
animation, etc. Click the hyperlink of the desired result to go to that part of the module. • To search all of Anatomy & Physiology
Online, return to the Your Subscription
page and click on Search your
subscription. Enter search terms in the search bar and click Search.
Use of Images
• NON COMMERICAL use of the images is royalty free - for private educational use in
PowerPoint presentations, lectures and patient education
• Any COMMERICAL OR PUBLIC DOMAIN USE of images including books, websites, videos,
DVD’s and any other use of the images in the public domain (e.g. advertising) will be subject
to formal permission and an additional license fee
Remember: Be sure to click the LOG OUT button to end your session or you may not be able to login again until after the time out period (default time out is 15 minutes)
