(Vice Minister),Chief Executive of
Confucius Institute Headquarters visited
Confucius Institute at University of
Kelaniya (CIUOK) Tuesday, on 26th
February 2013. Madam Xu Lin held the
friendly talk with Prof. Sarath
Amunugama,
Vice-Chancellor
of
University of Kelaniya, then visited the
library, classrooms, offices of CIUOK
and finally attended the welcome ceremony. Ms. Jingwei, Deputy Director General of Hanban,
Vice Chief Executive of Confucius Institute Headquarters, Prof. Zhou Xiaofeng,Vice-President
of Chongqing Normal University (CQNU: Partner University of UOK), Mr. Perera, Secretary to
Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Sri Lanka, Mr. Shen Ming, Chief of Cultural Section of
the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne,
Dean of Faculty of Humanities & Co-Director (Sri Lanka) of CIUOK, Prof. Hou Wanchun, CoDirector(China) of CIUOK, Prof. Hemantha Sirisena, Head of Department of Modern Language,
Registra of UOK, Deans and heads of different departments of UOK, teachers and students of
CIUOK, Responsible persons of Sri Lanka-China friendly Associations, Overseas Chinese
students and Overseas Chinese in Sri Lanka, Media reporters from China and Sri Lanka etc.
attended the Welcome Ceremony.

ViceChancellor extended his warmly welcome to
the Delegation of Hanban /Confucius Institute
Headquarters led by . Madam Xu Lin and
expressed his thanks to Hanban /Confucius
Institute Headquarters, Chongqing Normal
University, Chinese Embassy for their great
contributions and strong support to the
program of Chinese language and Culture in
Sri Lanka. He wished further Cooperations
between UOK and CQNU would be done.
Madam Xu Lin said over 410 Confucius
Institutes and 550 Confucius Classrooms had
been established in over 110 countries. She
was satisfied with the great achievement by
Confucius Institute at University of Kelaniya
since UOK and CQNU cooperated more than
one year ago and expressed her thanks to UOK,
CQNU and friends from all walks of society of
Sri Lanka and China.
At welcome ceremony Madam Xu Lin
awarded HSK certificates to some excellent learners of Chinese, watched the wonderful
performances by students of Confucius Institute at UOK. Totally over 200 persons participated
this function and Xinhua News Agency Colombo Bureau and some Sri Lankan Media reported
this event.
