Program Overview:
Essential Function(s):
Responsible for supervising volunteers in the lab and recruiting milk donors
through outreach in the community. Will be an active part of the pasteurization
process of the donated breastmilk in the lab.
Primarily responsible for recruiting and scheduling volunteers sufficient to fulfill
Milk Bank volunteer needs.
Develop, maintain and update a volunteer calendar/ schedule reflecting volunteer
opportunities and commitments.
Provide volunteer coordination, training and supervision on some evening and
weekends.
Provide primary supervision to volunteers working on behalf of the Milk Bank in
the pasteurization lab.

2016-2017 Position Description
Follow the Milk Bank’s pasteurization policies to provide safe pasteurized donor
human milk.
Serve in collaboration with Milk Bank staff to maintain the cleanliness of the
pasteurization lab and milk storage areas.
Create milk donor outreach materials and promotions.
Assist with the cultivation of milk donor relationships, including the timely
sending of thank you notes to milk donors and speaking on behalf of the Milk
Bank to potential milk donor groups.
Coordinate and implement milk donor-based events.
Responsible for the administration of the Breast Pump Lending Library through
breastfeeding support groups serving low-income and minority women.
Lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Responsible for on-going professional growth and knowledge of current
developments within the field.
Adhere to the policies of the Milk Bank.
Marginal Function(s):
Perform all other duties deemed necessary for the smooth operation of the Milk
Bank, as directed by the Program Director.
Academic and Experience
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Some college courses required.
Nursing, health-science, nutrition, social work or lab-science degrees preferred.
Professional experience facilitating with social media preferred.
Good interpersonal and communication skills with adults and children.
Valid driver’s license required and reliable transportation.
Background check and citizenship clearance.

Equipment Used:
Member will typically split his or her time between working with volunteers in the
