The International Conference on Buddhism and Jainism in Early Historic Asia On: 16th -17th February 2017 At: University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka The Centre for Asian Studies of the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka is pleased to invite academics to present their research papers on “Buddhism and Jainism in Early Historic Asia” at the International Conference being organized in collaboration with the All India Digambar Jain Heritage Preservation Organization, New Delhi, which will be held at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka on 16th and 17th February 2017. The Abstracts of Research Papers will be accepted till 10th January 2017 and the acceptance will be notified case by case within two weeks of the receipt of an abstract. If the candidates wish to consider their paper to be published in the Conference Proceedings must send it before 25th January 2017. Abstracts of papers: Abstracts not more than 300 words should be sent before 10th January 2017; in both Word and PDF formats to the conference secretariat. It should be in Times New Roman 12 Point and includes the title of the paper, name of author/authors, Institutional affiliation or personal address, email address, and five Keywords. The names of scholar/s who intend to attend the conference should be clearly mentioned. A short bio note of the author/s should be attached with the Abstract. Full papers: Those who are interested regarding their full paper to be published in the Conference Proceedings must send it before 25th January 2017. Harvard system should be used for references and plans and illustrations should be minimized. The paper less than 10 pages in length are preferred. Please consult the editors for more details via conference secretariat (contact stated below). Conference Themes: Philosophy, History, Culture, Art, Society, Literature of Buddhism and Jainism in Early Historic period will be considered. Also Aspects of Buddhism and Jainism as comparative studies of both religions and with other contemporary religions may be presented. All presentations should be original research work which may include new findings, new interpretations, and lesser well known facts or compilation of facts hidden in different sources in various languages. Common Heritage and methods of preservation of Heritage Registration: All participants should be registered prior to the conference. Passport number and some other relevant details will be required for registration. The conference secretariat will send a prescribed form for all accepted paper presenters in due course. Registration fee can be paid after your arrival in US$ (Dollar) or equivalent of Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR). The Fee structure is as follows: Sri Lankans: LKR 2000 South Asians: 100 US Dollars Other Foreign Participants: 150 US Dollars Full Time Students: Only half of the above rates will be applicable according to the category they belong. Registration Fee includes: Conference kit, Abstract Volume, lunch and beverages during the two days of conference. Travel and Accommodation: The university is not in a position for helping the candidates with travel and accommodation expenses. We leave Colombo on 18 th February early morning and stay the night at Anuradhapura .Return to Colombo will be in late evening of 19 th February. On return the candidates will be dropped at their respective places of stay or to the airport.
