Vacancy Location Type of Contract Closing date : Optical Polisher : St Asaph : Permanent : Friday 19th May 2017 Department : Optical Shop Remuneration : £23,097 - £28,954 Hours of Work : Days – 36 hours Job Outline: Working with a team of skilled craftspeople to produce precision optical components, you will support the production process in Optical to increase output levels and efficiently manufacture the production optical components. The role involves the handling of high value products, which must be dealt with the appropriate levels of care and precision. Key Responsibilities : The main duties with this position will include: Manufacture of avionics optical products Liaising on a technical basis with optical shop personnel, process engineers and internal customers. Operating with minimum supervision as part of a multi skilled team. Support operations in achieving an environment of Continuous Improvement by applying lean manufacturing principles and processes Responsible for the weekly recovery of hours and cost of quality Personal Specification: Candidates should demonstrate a good level of education (at least a grade C or above in Maths and English O Level/GCSE or equivalent), mechanical aptitude and an appreciation of mechanical principles, but above all the willingness to learn. We are looking for flexibility, eagerness to learn new processes and procedures with a positive attitude and ‘can do’ approach. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to manufacture high precision optical components, including both grinding and polishing, in a range of optical materials. Both conventional and CNC processing knowledge would be advantageous. AS9100 awareness and/or experience is desirable. Flexibility of working hours may be required, along with availability to work overtime to meet business needs. IT literacy is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to this role.
