Costume List – Grade 1 Ballet/Grade 1 Tap/ Grade II Modern

Costume List – Primary Ballet/Primary Tap – Earls Colne and Stanway
Please note the class that your child takes and what will be required for their part in the show. All main
costumes will be provided by the school on a hire or buy basis, depending on the costume. Shoes,
tights and socks will need to be provided by the parent, in most cases these will be shoes that the child
already wears for class. Each child should also have their own makeup and hair accessories (hairspray,
clips, and hairnets) and should come to all dress rehearsals and performances with their hair and
makeup ready.
In the case of students who do more than one class and will therefore be performing in more than one
routine, hair may change throughout. Please make sure that your child has their hair ready for their
first routine (dance order will be emailed nearer the show), they will then have their hairstyle changed
by the chaperones working backstage.
This letter is a guide for all parents detailing what your child will require and should be kept
somewhere safe. Individual costume invoices are attached with this letter, costumes will only be given
out upon receipt of payment.
Please be aware that costumes are not made to measure and are standard sizing for the age group, some
adjustments will therefore need to be made by the parent if the costume is to big/small including
adding elastic to all hats.

Makeup – All children are requested to wear minimal stage makeup which consists of eye shadow
(any colour) blusher and lipstick. Please be aware that it is a necessity for all students to wear makeup
regardless of age, this is due to the heavy stage lighting. Please provide your child with this makeup
and prepare them for the performances, chaperones will be on hand to touch up if necessary.
Students will be provided with their costumes one week prior to the photo shoot. Please make
sure that they are kept safe and clean ready for the first performance.
Please note: all costumes that have been ‘hired’ from the school should be returned to Jo White
after the show. All accessories that are provided by the school are only given out on the day and
must be handed to Jo backstage after the last performance.
