Our Wild Week
Reading:
We will be reading about Revolutionary War heroes. The
children will be reading in groups to learn about William Jasper,
Francis Marion, Thomas Sumter, and Andrew Pickens.
Our read aloud is Mr. Popper’s Penguins.
“Paws” for These Events
January 23-24- Great Book Exchange (bring books in)
February 2- Parent Lunch and Learn on Children with Anxietynoon (RSVP)
March 16-17- Regular School Days Now
Writing:
The grammar skill for the week is quotation marks.
We will also be learning how to analyze documents. It will
lead into answering a prompt by using evidence within
informational texts and illustrations to prove why we think
a certain way.
Upcoming Tests
Math:
We will be focusing on multiplication and division. We
have already learned the foundations (groups of, arrays,
etc.). Now we will work on mastering the facts. We will
start with the easy ones (2, 5, 10, 11, 9) and then move
on from there. (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12) Please be working on
the math facts.
Social Studies:

Fast Facts Friday!
American Revolution
We will summarize the causes of the American
Revolution, including Britain’s passage of the Stamp Act,
the Tea Act, and the Intolerable Acts; the rebellion of the
colonists; and the writing of the Declaration of
Independence.

News from the Principal:
Great Book Exchange The PTA’s GBE will be held January 23 through 27. Students may bring in two gently used books on
their reading level to trade in for different books. Please send the books in to your child’s teacher on Monday or Tuesday,
and the students will visit the book exchange later in the week to select their new books.
Morning Drop Off The building is open for students at 7:15 am. This is when we have teachers and staff members on
duty to monitor our students. Please have your child wait in the car until 7:15 am. This will help ensure the safest
environment.
