Downloading Kurzweil 3000
It is recommended that you install Kurzweil 3000 Web License (K3000) from the latest downloadable
version of the software. If you install K3000 from a DVD, the version of K3000 you install may be out
of date. However, if the version of K3000 on the DVD is noted as 13.14 or greater, the DVD should be
considered adequately current, and downloading the latest version is not necessary.
1. Download K3000 for Windows here: http://www.kurzweiledu.com/installv13
2. Choose to Save the file. If you do not specify
where to save and download the file to on your
computer, it should be saved in your Downloads.
4. After the download is complete, choose to Open or Run the file. You can also double-click the
K3000_k3_13xx_W_F.exe file to open it. This will start an extraction process.
5. You may receive an Open File - Security Warning window, asking if “…Are you sure you want
to run this software?” If you receive this window, click Run to bypass it.

6. The extraction window will appear. Select a
destination folder and click Install button to begin
extraction. In the destination folder, a new folder
named InstallTemp will be created that contains
the installer files for K3000.
7. After the extraction process completes, it will automatically launch you into the K3000 installation
chute (see below). Continue with the installation instructions below.
Installing Kurzweil 3000
If you followed the downloading instructions, you will see a Kurzweil 3000 Master Installation
window (i.e., the K3000 installation chute). If you place the DVD into your computer, you should also
see this window when your computer auto-runs the DVD. If you’re using the installer files (noted
above) to install on another computer, locate the setup.exe file and run that to start the installation.
1. In the Kurzweil 3000 Master Installation window,
click Web Licensing Software to install the Web
License version. Do not choose to install the other
versions.
2. Follow the prompts within the installation chute to complete the installation. Choose to install the
Complete version of the software when prompted. The installation process may take anywhere
from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the speed of your computer.
3. During installation, if a Guest Login Account window appears, choose the option Skip to
continue with the installation.
