November Word List 1. solute—The smallest part of a solution; dissolves evenly into a liquid 2. solvent—The larger part of a solution; a substance, usually a liquid, that dissolves other substances. 3. concentration—The ratio of the solute to the solvent in a solution or mixture. 4. saturated—When a solution cannot hold any more solute at a given temperature. 5. particulates—The very small separate particles that make up a substance. 6. ionic bond— force of attraction between oppositely charged particles 7. covalent bond— force of attraction between the nuclei of atoms and the electrons shared by the atoms 8. chemical change— when matter is changed into an entirely new substance with different properties.
